About the opportunity

The University's Advanced Analytics, Planning and Enterprise Data (AAP) team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced survey systems and integrations professional to manage the operational delivery and ongoing administration of the University's new student survey platform. This platform supports one of the institution's most significant datasets, the Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET). Working within a high-impact education and insights function, this role is critical in ensuring the stability, governance and performance of the platform during a major institutional transition across 2026-2027.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to directly contribute to academic assurance, learning quality improvement and institutional reporting.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	serve as the primary owner of all AAP student survey platforms (Explorance Blue, Qualtrics), ensuring stability and alignment with institutional teaching and learning priorities, overseeing platform configuration, lifecycle management and system integrations
	manage survey programming and project set-up, data quality and validation and reporting workflows
	manage governance controls, risk mitigation and ensure AI analytics quality assurance processes are maintained
	support structured change management and continuous improvement initiatives during the platform transition and beyond.
	work closely with senior stakeholders, system vendors and internal technical teams


About you


	Advanced SQL skills for extracting, transforming and validating survey data across relational and non relational databases
	Ability to support ETL pipelines, automate data feeds, and reconcile survey data with institutional or enterprise systems (e.g. SIS, LMS, data warehouses)
	Hands on experience administering enterprise survey platforms (e.g. Qualtrics, Explorance Blue, Medallia or similar)
	Strong understanding of API based integrations, SSO, scheduling, metadata mapping, and system lifecycle management
	Ability to translate academic or business requirements into technical system configurations and integration solutions
	Strong capability in platform transition planning, documentation, risk mitigation and continuous improvement of survey and reporting capabilities
	extensive experience in managing large data sources and complex data across a large and diverse organisations (higher-education sector and management of student data is advantageous)
	elevated communication and influencing skills to operate with tact and professionalism across a diverse range of internal and external audiences
	experience applying governance, risk and data quality controls across reporting and evaluation systems

Where will you be:

Your position is based at the Department of Development Studies, a sub-unit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, which focuses its teaching and research on the transdisciplinary analysis and critical reflection of global inequalities. Teaching and research therefore centre on theories and approaches to social, political, historical, cultural and economic transformations and inequalities, and their reflection, as well as questions regarding the methodological approach to the subject of ‘development’. We regard transdisciplinary collaboration in both teaching and research as essential for understanding political, economic, social and cultural processes, dynamics, power structures and their interplay at both global and local levels.

At the Department of Development Studies, you will join a team of dedicated researchers, work on exciting research projects, and benefit from collegial and transdisciplinary collaboration, as well as the opportunity to engage with a young and enthusiastic generation of students. The research focus of our unit lies in the areas of green extractivism, energy colonialism, hydrogen, post-development, and policies for ecosystemic survival in the Anthropocene. Our regional focus is on southern and western Africa, Latin America and the EU’s external borders. Our research strategies are shaped by post- and decolonial critique, political ecology and critical geography, critical governance research/governmentalities analysis, qualitative, discursive and participative methodologies.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	Independently develop and successfully carry out a postdoctoral project with the aim of securing a tenured position
	Contribute to the field of development studies from a political science / political-ecological perspective
	Independent development of / involvement in research projects and research grant applications
	Collaboration on publications, conferences and events
	Independently delivering lectures and conducting examinations in accordance with the terms of the appointment, including supervising undergraduates or co-supervising PhD students as part of a team supervision arrangement
	Assisting with organisational and administrative tasks as well as evaluation procedures
	Taking over responsibilities within the departmental administration


This is part of your personality:


	A successfully completed, outstanding PhD and a Master’s or Diploma degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Development or a related field with a focus on political science or political ecology
	Proven expertise in at least two of the following fields: political ecology, political economy, postcolonial/decolonial theory, feminist theory/queer theory, critical security studies, peace and conflict studies, and transformation studies.
	Outstanding methodological skills, in particular experience with qualitative and transdisciplinary methods, including field research, ethnography and participatory action research
	Proven relevant teaching experience; experience with e-learning; facilitation skills
	Integration into German-speaking and international research networks in the fields of political ecology and socio-ecological transformation
	Initial experience in securing external funding
	High standard of written and oral language competencies
	Excellent written and spoken German and English; knowledge of other languages is desirable
	Practical IT skills relevant to the social sciences
	Ability to work as part of a team
	Organisational and administrative skills
	International research experience
	Familiarity with university procedures and structures

The Opportunity

You will contribute to the design, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of medical education programs, including the MD; Doctor of Medicine Program. You will coordinate and teach units within the School of Medicine, ensuring learning is contemporary, engaging and informed by research.

You will lead and support curriculum design, blended learning development and assessment processes. You will develop teaching materials and learning activities for medical students, and work closely with colleagues to strengthen the student learning experience, including appropriate support and pastoral care.

You will build an active research and scholarship profile in medical education or a relevant field through publications, grant applications and the supervision of research students. You will participate in School, Faculty and University committees and administrative responsibilities, and engage with internal and external academic and professional networks, including presenting work at seminars and conferences.

Work that matters

This role provides expert leadership in animal health and welfare, ethics, and compliance across research and teaching activities at Adelaide University. Reporting to the Executive direction, Research Infrastructure, you will oversee the health, welfare and ethical use of animals within Research and Teaching through development and implementation of policy, procedures and training whilst maintaining adherence to relevant legislation and the Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes.

While the role draws on veterinary expertise, it is predominantly non-clinical in nature, with a strong focus on reviewing animal ethics applications, providing advice, and supporting governance and compliance activities, alongside some hands-on veterinary input where required.

This role delivers specialist veterinary services, provides high-level advice to researchers and senior stakeholders, and leads training to promote best practice in animal care and use. It also promotes the principles of the 3Rs (replacement, reduction, refinement) and fosters a culture of ethical practice, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The team

This role is part of the University Veterinarian team in the Research Infrastructure sub-function that is aligned to the Research and Innovation Portfolio. This role works closely with the Animal Ethics Committees, Biological Services managers and Animal Technician staff, and researchers, students, Executive Directors, and Deans across Adelaide University. It also collaborates with colleagues in Research Services, Compliance, Ethics and Integrity, and liaises with relevant State and Commonwealth Government departments. This role requires flexibility, including participation in a shared on-call roster, and the ability to respond to issues as they arise, both during and outside standard hours.
