Area Overview: The Biomolecular Resource Facility (BRF), located within the John Curtin School of Medical Research, is a service node of NCRIS Bioplatforms Australia (BPA) and provides consultancy and services using high-end technologies and equipment. These services include Next Generation High Throughput Sequencing (NGS), Sanger Sequencing, Genotyping, the ANU Bioinformatics Consultancy, the ANU Centre for Therapeutic Discovery and the National Therapeutic mRNA platform. We have a diverse client base including researchers from ANU, CSIRO and University of Canberra, with applications ranging from health to agriculture and environment. We seek to appoint a Senior Genomics Technician, to join our team. Position Overview: The Senior Technical Officer will work in the BRF Genotyping team. The appointee will work closely with other group members on an NGS amplicon genotyping service screening genetically modified mice and other amplicon and ecogenomics services for ANU, BPA and other external clients. They will be responsible for PCR and amplicon library preparation utilising high end liquid handling automation, data generation and handling. This position requires experience in molecular biology, and a high level of organisational skills, attention to detail as well as strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with other team members, students and academics on a range of bioscience research topics. As a client-focused facility, effective communication skills and teamwork are essential, along with an interest in bioscience research. Additionally, these roles require a solid and demonstrated background in laboratory-based molecular biology skills and demonstrated organisational skills and commitment to meet deadlines. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end design processes, from user research and ideation to wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity UI design Conduct user research, usability testing, and interviews to uncover insights that inform design decisions Produce high quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes. Support the design and development of physical products from early concept through to final production Present designs to customers, develop and iterate designs through sketches, prototypes, renderings and communicate with stakeholders. Work on projects that spread across product development, print, packaging, video storytelling, brand identity, and interactive projects for screens, devices, and space. Build physical and digital models and prototypes to explore and validate design directions. Align with proposed design direction and bring in the voice and emotion to the project through thoughtful features and initiatives. Bring both a strategic eye and a depth of craft in brand and communications design to the project teams. Provide advice and guidance on the implementation of UI/UX research methodologies and instil inspiration into the organization and our partners. Assist in creating prototypes of different levels of fidelity to help enhance the design direction for a project. Applied Research and Innovation Job Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience in Industrial design or UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design thinking Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Interactive Design or related field. Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, and visual design fundamentals A collaborative mindset with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback Experience working within agile or iterative product development environments is a plus Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or equivalent Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, or Fusion 360 Familiarity with rendering tools such as KeyShot, Blender, or similarAbility to spark ideas and generate fresh concepts and inspire peers. High proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and other Adobe Suite Tools. Excellent drawing skills with a creative mind to bring new perspectives to the design.

The Role The School seeks to appoint a two-year Career Development Fellow in French & Francophone Studies. Applications are welcome from those working in all areas of French & Francophone literary and cultural studies, and we are especially interested to receive applications from those with specialisms in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. In line with institutional expectations for Career Development Fellowships, your time will be divided between the three core activities of teaching (60%), research (30%) and citizenship (10%). The post offers an exciting opportunity to develop internationally excellent research/scholarship and teaching while providing unrivalled, tailored support for your career progression at an exciting and progressive institution. Given the developmental nature of the role it is not anticipated that the post will be extended beyond the initial fixed term of two years. Following the end of the term, the role-holder will be in a strong position to apply for relevant permanent academic roles, should they arise, at Durham or elsewhere. Successful applicants are normally expected to be within 8 years of completing their PhD, although career breaks for parental leave and/or health reasons will be considered. This is because the role is aimed at early career academics who would benefit from a structured development programme and provision of both formal and 'on the job' training. The post is also open to those who are returning to academia after a career in another sector. Successful applicants will ideally be in post by 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
