Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Condensed Matter Physics. Experience in numerical techniques and analytical field-theoretical approaches is desirable. Applicants who are in the process of completing a Ph.D. degree will also be considered. The appointee will work with Prof. Zi Yang Meng to conduct research on computational and theoretical condensed matter physics. Areas of research include diagrammatic calculations, quantum Monte Carlo methods, density matrix renormalization group and tensor network states, and artificial intelligence and neural networks, with a particular focus on applying these numerical approaches to quantum many-body systems, such as correlated 2D materials, quantum Moire systems, frustrated magnets, topological order, quantum phase transitions beyond Landau-Ginzburg-Wilson paradigms, etc. The recent works of Prof. Meng and the group can be found at https://quantummc.xyz/publication. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. This role will involve working with large-scale prospective datasets and applying advanced epidemiological and longitudinal modelling approaches to better understand modifiable risk factors and disease progression. Work that matters The Field Laboratory Assistant will support the Weeds Research Group at the Waite Campus, contributing to research that aims to reduce the impact of herbicide resistant weeds on Australian grain producers. This national collaboration includes research nodes in Adelaide, Perth, Wagga Wagga and Toowoomba. Working primarily in a field laboratory environment, the role will support plant growth and maintenance across glasshouse, shadehouse and controlled environments, along with seed preparation and sample collection. The position also provides day-to-day support to grant-funded research activities and student projects, with occasional assistance at field research sites. The team The Field Laboratory Assistant reports to the Senior Mortlock Fellow within the Weeds Research Group in the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine. The team conducts internationally recognised research focused on improving weed management strategies and supporting the sustainability and productivity of Australia’s grain industry.
