Your personal sphere of influence:

As a university assistant prae doc at the Institute for Romance Studies, you will be involved in reserach and teaching in the work area of Univ. Prof. Dr. Martha Guzmán. The focus of research is on Spanish linguistics. 

The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the work and research area.
	We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
	You work on your dissertation and its completion.
	You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
	You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
	You participate in the organization of conferences and meetings.

	Completed Master's degree or Diploma, in the field of Romance Studies, with a focus on Spanish linguistics.
	Solid knowledge of Spanish.
	Knowledge of German or English (C1)
	Familiarity with the methods of linguistics.

The Senior Engagement Communications Manager develops and delivers effective communications that connect and showcases the work of International, Engagement & Service (IES) both within and beyond the university, driving participation and audiences, and reinforcing King's ambitions to make the world a better place.

IES is a new Directorate at King’s that brings together the expertise of teams engaging with communities and partners locally, national and globally. The Directorate provides strategic leadership for the university’s engagement at home and abroad, while providing a home for a portfolio of innovative programmes that generate and measure impact and serve the communities we work with and for. IES is home to some of King’s most innovative and impact-driven programming including  Sanctuary, the  Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education,  King’s Volunteering,  One King’s Impact, among others, as well as our civic and place-based engagement in  London, and across the world.

About the Role

The Senior Engagement Communications Manager within the International, Engagement & Service (IES) Directorate requires a balance of skills across internal and external communications, engagement, and digital.

 

The post holder will be adept at identifying, researching, and developing proactive communications campaigns and compelling news stories, features and content. They will work with colleagues across IES teams, central and faculty-based communications teams and external collaborators to tell those stories through digital, social and external media, impactful events, compelling internal and external campaigns, launches and other activities to inspire and engage our communities.

 

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week) and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

This is currently a hybrid working role where the role holder will spend part of their working week on campus and part of the week working remotely. Flexible working requests/patterns are welcomed.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

 

Essential criteria


	First degree and professional communications qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience
	Significant experience of communications and marketing at a responsible level
	Ability to understand and translate complex themes and messages for internal and external audiences, alongside expertise in how to create and communicate those messages in credible and impactful ways.
	Excellent creative writing, ability to adapt to multiple styles and uses, editing and proofing skills with an eye for detail
	Advanced digital skills including experience in managing social media channels and working with website/newsletter/contact databases, CMS and CRM systems, video and podcasting technology
	Demonstrates strong leadership and interpersonal skills, facilitation, and coaching skills to build relationships across organizational boundaries and to positively influence and drive the right outcomes
	Experience of measuring reach/impact of communications and of using the data to underpin communication and engagement activity


Desirable criteria


	Experience of working in higher education.
	Experience of working cross-organisationally in a complex environment with competing priorities

Job description

A vacancy has become available in our busy café which serves our students and staff. We have 4 cafés within the University, and you will play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while ensuring they receive outstanding service.

The role will include serving hot and cold food to customers, having excellent product knowledge and upselling products. You will work alongside a professional and diverse team.

You must have previous experience of working in a catering environment with both front of house and back of house experience, excellent customer service skills and relevant Food Hygiene certification.

The post-holder will be expected to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Optics and Photonics

We are looking for an outstanding postdoc to join the Optics and Photonics group for theoretical and experimental research on nanophotonics. The research will be focused on the development of novel approaches to design, create, and investigate photonic metasurfaces that efficiently trap light and enhance nonlinear optical phenomena. The position is fully funded by the Research Council of Finland and involves collaboration with researchers from the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering at Aalto University, as well as international collaboration with a research team from the Netherlands.

Your role and goals

In this position, you will act as a researcher working on design and characterization of nonlinear metasurfaces supporting resonant optical modes known as photonic bound states in the continuum. The design will be based on numerical modelling methods. The samples will be fabricated using the cleanroom facilities of Aalto University and investigated by nonlinear optical methods using the equipment of the Optics and Photonics group.

As a member of the group, you will:


	use your knowledge and experience to achieve scientific breakthroughs in research on nonlinear metasurfaces and bound states in the continuum,
	advance the field by overcoming existing challenges and developing new scientific ideas,
	support research activities of other group members,
	write and publish high-impact articles,
	collaborate with other research groups, including participation in international research visits.


​Your experience and ambitions

Minimal requirements for the candidate are:


	doctoral degree in physics, photonics, materials science, or another relevant field,
	excellent scientific writing skills evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals,
	high level of understanding of principles of optics and photonics, especially related to nonlinear optics at the nanoscale and optical properties of periodic structures,
	familiarity with the relevant theoretical and experimental methods, such as numerical simulations and optical microscopy.
	excellent command of English; Finnish language is not required.


​Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in conducting nonlinear optical experiments using ultrashort laser pulses and previous contributions to research on nonlinear metasurfaces and photonic bound states in the continuum.

What we offer

Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities. The salary of a postdoc is in the range 4020 € - 4420 €/month (gross), depending on experience. The contract will be made initially for one year, with a possibility of extension. We expect the selected candidate to start the work in January 2025 or soon after. The annual workload of research and teaching staff at Aalto University is currently 1612 hours. The contract includes Aalto University occupational healthcare.

We would like you to bring your skills and experience to join our Health and Nutrition Department, where you will be teaching and supporting students undertaking the Independent and Supplementary Prescribing programme (V300) for Registered Nurses.

This is a new programme for UCB which has been approved by the NMC. We are looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer with contemporary knowledge of prescribing and pharmacology, who has professional experience as a senior healthcare practitioner or pharmacist.

Our programmes’ curriculum is focused on preparing practitioners to develop their role or innovate their practice as advanced clinical and specialist practitioners, and our philosophy is to work in partnership with students, academics, researchers, service users and service colleagues to deliver high quality learning and teaching based on contemporary research.

To be successful in this role you should have: Professional Registration with NMC, HCPC or GPhC· Annotation of your prescribing qualification on the professional register.

Your teaching approach should be flexible, student focussed, and research informed, and you should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You must have expertise in engaging in post-registration nursing education with sound pedagogical foundations and be able to offer inspirational learning and teaching to students.

You will be able to demonstrate evidence of leadership, teamworking and working autonomously. You should have a strong commitment to developing and maintaining relationships with the programme delivery team, wider university teams, the NMC and our stakeholders, as this will be required during curriculum development and ongoing programme monitoring.
