The University of Minho was founded in 1973 as part of a wave of ‘new universities’ revitalising education in Portugal. Three campuses are in the northwestern city of Braga, as well as the Campus of Azurém inGuimarães. In total there are eleven schools and institutes at Minho.
The school of architecture is located in Guimarães, which in 2001 had its historic city centre designated as a UNESCO world heritage site, and in 2012 was a European City of Culture. An integrated masters in architecture will take five years and a bachelors in product design is a three year course.
There are 32 research centres within the University of Minho umbrella. The Confucius institute in Braga was established in partnership with Nankai university in Tianjin, and is a research centre with the targeted aim of the development of Minho’s Chinese studies arm. There is also an extensive school of sciences at Minho, and on average 30 patents a year are registered with the university.
Over 400 universities worldwide have established partnerships with Minho, and a foundation course for international students is available. The university conducts two international master’s degrees as part of the Erasmus Mundus programme, Structural Analysis of Monuments and Engineering Rheology. At the beginning of each semester Minho offers 60 hours worth of starter lessons in speaking and writing the Portuguese language, and at PhD level there are four courses taught in English; Bioengineering, Engineering Design, Computer Science, and Telecommunications.
After graduation from Minho, students will be granted access to the Portal Alumni, being able maintain contacts and network in their professional field.

We partner with health services to develop innovative treatments for those aged 12-25 with emerging mental health disorders. The integration of cutting-edge research with safe and effective clinical care enables us too quickly and effectively translate our research findings into clinical services, facilitating continuous improvements to mental health services for the benefit of young people in Australia. We are looking for a Research Assistant to join our team and contribute to clinical trials and cohort studies of national significance for youth mental health. This position will be responsible for providing relevant support to the Brain and Mind Centre's Youth Mental Health and Technology team. This includes supporting the management and delivery of a health services clinical trials and cohort studies, preparing relevant educational materials, performing fundamental aspects of clinical research work, working with clinicians, academics, and youth mental health service providers, and contributing to the efficient operation of the research work area by providing essential research support. Your key responsibilities will be to: recruiting study participants, liaising with potential participants, their clinicians and services, where appropriate conducting diagnostic interviews with participants using multiple standardised clinical assessment instruments, always adhering to research protocol liaising and communicating with clinical staff (such as psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nurses, youth workers), as well as research staff located on-site facilitate referrals into research studies and other forms of continuing care and conduct clinical/research programs as required coordinating the collection of data, including assisting other research staff with data entry and analysis assisting in presentations to clinical staff and other services to promote and provide information about the research studies assisting with the preparation of publications arising from the study ability to work outside of normal business hours on occasion and travel to the trial sites as necessary. Job Description SCHOOL OF CHINESE MEDICINE TEACHING AND RESEARCH DIVISION Research Assistant Professor (25260519) Applications are invited for a Research Assistant Professor position in the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM), Hong Kong Baptist University. The SCM is committed to advancing research that integrates Chinese Medicine, aging research, immunity, and tissue degeneration, promoting innovative translational discoveries that address major chronic diseases. HKBU provides a vibrant research environment that bridges traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with state-of-the-art biomedical sciences, fostering unique opportunities for interdisciplinary innovation in aging research, immune regulation, and regenerative medicine. The ideal candidate is expected to advance the SCM’s strategic priorities by investigating mechanisms of aging; elucidating pathways underlying immune dysregulation and inflammatory diseases; defining the biological basis of tissue degeneration across musculoskeletal, metabolic, and inflammatory systems; applying cutting-edge multi-omics technologies such as single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics to translational research; and developing novel therapeutic strategies and biomarkers that integrate Chinese medicine concepts with modern biomedical science. Responsibilities: Conduct research on aging biology, immune dysregulation, inflammation, and tissue degeneration; Lead translational projects employing single-cell sequencing, immune profiling, transgenic models, and molecular biology to uncover pathomechanisms and therapeutic targets in arthritis, osteoporosis, intervertebral disc degeneration, and autoimmune diseases; Develop innovative research directions in immune aging and degenerative disorders, including novel diagnostic or therapeutic strategies inspired by herbal medicine, natural products, or TCM syndrome biology; Collaborate with clinical and industry partners to translate research findings into practical applications; Supervise postgraduate students and research staff, and contribute to the academic activities of the SCM; and Prepare competitive research grant proposals and publish high-quality scientific papers. Requirements: A PhD in Biology, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, Chinese Medicine, or related disciplines; A strong publication record in top-tier journals, with demonstrated leadership in aging, immune dysregulation, and tissue degeneration research; Proven experience in single-cell multi-omics, transgenic mouse models, molecular and cellular biology, and the mechanistic study of inflammatory and degenerative diseases; Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and secure competitive funding; and Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration. The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
