Ref.: 533919 Work type: Full-time Department: School of Humanities (05200) Categories: Professoriate Staff Applications are invited for appointment as Professor/Associate Professor on tenure terms or tenure-track Assistant Professor in Modern and Contemporary Art History in the School of Humanities (Art History) (Ref.: 533919), to commence in August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment as Assistant Professor will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Art History or a related field. The position is open to all subfields, preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach introductory courses in modern and contemporary art of Europe and the Americas. The appointee will also supervise postgraduate students and should exhibit a strong interest in, and commitment to, integrating digital technologies and AI into teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous, independent research programme; excel in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum development; and undertake administrative duties as required. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years’ research experience in oncology, cellular and molecular biology, animal experiments, and next generation sequencing. Previous experience in liver cancer and liver transplantation will be advantageous. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua), and a track record of high-quality research demonstrated by publications and research grants. They should also be well organized, responsible, detail-minded, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.  The appointee will participate in basic, clinical, and translational research in the area of liver cancer and liver transplantation. He/She will plan and execute research; prepare scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders; and perform other duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. The appointees will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to integrated circuit and system design, analog/mixed-signal and digital ICs, semiconductor device fundamentals, electronic design automation, and emerging hardware systems, among others. They will also supervise research postgraduate students, contribute actively to research and knowledge exchange, undertake school practicum supervision, and assume service/administrative responsibilities as appropriate. Those appointed at Associate Professor level will also be expected to lead collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives in research and knowledge exchange, mentor and nurture the next generation of scholars and researchers, and assume high-level service/administrative responsibilities. Requirements Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a closely related field, with a strong commitment to research and teaching, a solid track record in or strong potential for research, scholarly publications, and competitive external funding. What We Offer The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years initially, to commence as soon as possible thereafter, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance. Exceptionally outstanding candidates at Associate Professor level may be considered for appointment on tenure terms, subject to the University’s approval.
