About the Department. The Department of Politics and Public Administration has played a leading role the University and its global disciplines since its establishment in 1970. In addition to a competitive PhD research degree programme, the Department offers three highly successful taught postgraduate programmes – Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master in International and Public Affairs (MIPA), and Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) – as well as thriving undergraduate programmes. The Department’s faculty members are research active, diverse, international and highly collegial. Many have received training and work experience in the most prestigious departments and universities in North America, Europe and across Asia. They should have a PhD degree in a related field and will have significant achievements in relation to research, teaching and institutional service commensurate with the level of appointment they seek. Research achievements are expected to include peer-reviewed articles in esteemed journals and competitive research grants. Teaching achievements are expected to include the development of new courses and programmes and practice in innovative pedagogical methods. In the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, we build on understanding of drugs to develop medicines of high safety and efficacy.
