The University of Calgary is a Canadian university located in the nation’s most enterprising city. The university aims to become one of Canada’s top-five research universities by 2016. This vision is called “Eyes High”, inspired by the university’s Gaelic motto, which translates as “I will lift up my eyes.” The University of Calgary aspires to be a global intellectual hub, where its students thrive in programmes made rich by research and hands-on experiences. The university currently offers more than 200 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programmes, and provides the community with lifelong learning opportunities. The University of Calgary is a member of the U15 group of Canadian public research universities, which contribute upwards of C$36 billion to the national economy annually. Considered Canada’s top young university (less than 50 years), it drives nearly $8 billion in economic impact to its host province of Alberta alone. The University of Calgary houses 73 Canada research chairs and more than 80 research institutes and centres working to address society’s most persistent and emerging challenges.
