The Molecular Nanoengineering group at the Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering (NBE), Aalto University (Finland), operates at the interface between nanotechnology, molecular self-assembly, and plasmonics, with a particular focus on DNA-based artificial molecular systems and functional plasmonic surfaces. The group is part of Aalto’s School of Science (SCI). We are now looking for a Project Employee for developing a portable readout for anti-counterfeit labels. Are you excited to build portable optical/electronic readout solutions for a next-generation security technology that combats counterfeiting? We are now looking for a motivated team member to support the development of readout schemes for plasmonic anti-counterfeit labels. In this position, you will have a chance to make an impact by helping translate state-of-the-art research into a technology with strong commercial potential in the deep-tech sector. Join us in shaping the future! Counterfeit products pose significant risks to the global economy and consumer safety. We are developing a next-generation security labelling technology that is verifiable, unclonable, and irretrievable, using advanced functional materials to create multi-layered security patterns with multiple security levels. The position is linked to an ongoing Business Finland Research to Business (R2B) project. The position is fixed-term (18 months), with an extension possibility, and the new team member should be willing to commit 100% to the R2B project. Your role and goals You will work alongside the existing team, focusing on developing a portable readout solution for plasmonic anti-counterfeit labels. Your key goal is to help create and validate practical readout approaches that support further technology development and exploration of commercial potential. Tasks and responsibilities may include (depending on your experience): Developing and testing readout concepts for plasmonic security labels. Prototyping portable measurement/readout setups (hardware and/or optics, depending on your background). Supporting data acquisition and analysis (e.g., imaging-based readout approaches). Documenting results and collaborating closely with the research team toward project milestones. Your network and team You will join the Molecular Nanoengineering group at Aalto University and work in close collaboration with the existing project team. The work is connected to an R2B commercialization pathway, offering exposure to research-to-innovation activities. We have established a core team comprising a Business Champion, a Technical Champion (specialising in nanotechnology and materials science) and a Technology Expert (fabrication/scale-up/characterisation). The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Communications Engineering & Signal Processing. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is of advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes. Teaching Responsibilities In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach graduate courses in the Electrical Engineering (MEE) program and undergraduate courses in the Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) program. The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduction is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes). Teaching should reflect current research methods and results. The following modules are potential courses that the successful candidate may teach, though they are not fixed and may change based on the needs of the programs and agreements between the lecturer and the relevant academic departments: MEE Modules: Wireless Communications Optical Communications Statistical & Adaptive Signal Processing Detection & Pattern Recognition ECE Modules: Digital Signals & Systems Communications Engineering The named courses are subject to change upon realistic needs of the programs and joint agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean in charge of teaching. Courses may require conducting relevant laboratory activities and/or advising student projects. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to play an active role in the establishment, development, and continuous improvement of laboratory facilities in their area of expertise at VGU. The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor's and master's theses as well as other student research projects and mentoring Ph.D. students. Research Responsibilities As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the scientific profile of VGU through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in the fields of communications, signal processing, and related disciplines. The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable. Administrative responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the MEE and ECE programs by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the programs in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the MEE study program and the German partner university, namely the University of Stuttgart. She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies. Qualification Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a major in Communications Engineering, Signal Processing or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include: An outstanding academic record with a focus on Communications Engineering, Signal Processing or other areas closely related to it Proven expertise in Communications Engineering and/or Signal Processing.
