Besides study support services, which are available for the entire academic community, the international community of the University of Aveiro has at its disposal guidance services and integration support which have been carefully thought out in order to respond to its specific requirements.
- UA_Intercultural
The UA_Intercultural area (UA_I) is located in a student plaza and it is here where foreign nationality students can go to find help relating to their stay at UA and Aveiro. As a guidance service, it has an important role in first line support to clarify any doubts and help resolve issues regarding academic administration, social support and accessibility. In addition, it is also a setting for exhibitions, concerts and other activities, thus being a showcase par excellence for cultural diversity.
- Support for the Integration of Migrants
The UA is the only university to provide its international academic community with a Local Support Centre for the Integration of Migrants (CLAIM), a place that offers institutional support so that our international community is welcomed and integrated with ease and simplified bureaucracy.
CLAIM also aims to minimize any difficulties that may arise in settling into your new life in Portugal by offering specialised support provided by skilled professionals, in areas such as residency, education, access to public services, accommodation, day-to-day issues, among many others.
- Buddy Programme for International Students
This initiative aims to provide the best conditions to welcome and integrate International Students. The project seeks to impact the experience of foreign students from the very beginning, even before they arrive in Aveiro, facilitating the process of preparing the trip to Portugal and welcoming new students from all study programmes, throughout and after their arrival in Aveiro.
- The University of Aveiro Tutor Programme
As we want your first steps in Higher Education to be as smooth as possible, we have developed a programme to welcome and help first year students integrate into the UA community. Our goal is to ensure your wellbeing and academic success, through the personalised support of colleagues-mentors and teacher-tutors. In addition to this individualised monitoring, the programme includes lectures, workshops and other sessions in which you will develop competencies from many areas and hereby enrich your curriculum.
