The position is assigned to the Research Unit “Developmental psychology” (Chair Prof. Dr. Stefanie Höhl). The group focuses primarily on aspects of social-cognitive development in early childhood and conducts research on topics such as the development of joint attention and social learning. Our methodological focus is on experimental and neuroscience research (e.g., eye tracking, EEG, fNIRS). We offer an excellent working environment including a fully equipped lab with cutting-edge technology, international collaborations and substantial support for early-career researchers. The candidate should have a strong interest in developmental cognitive neuroscience and its experimental methods, in particular EEG and or fNIRS and eye-tracking. Applicants should have experience conducting and analysing neuroscientific experiments with infants and children. The ideal candidate will have experience in the analysis of neurophysiological data from different age groups, in particular using frequency and/or time-frequency analyses. The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration. Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means: Participation in research projects Participation in publications and presentations Working on your dissertation and towards its completion in time Supervision of students Involvement in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposiums Involvement in project and research administration These are your skills: Magister/Master in Psychology/Neuroscience/Cognitive Biology or related disciplines Experimental research skills with human participants, ideally infants Programming skills (Matlab/Python/R) Advanced statistical analyses skills Excellent command of written and spoken English Ability to work in a team and excellent communication skills. Experience in recording and analysing neurophysiological data. You will have previous experience working in an administrative role, with excellent IT skills including MS Office and SharePoint, along with the ability and willingness to learn bespoke software systems. Experience of minute taking, working to tight deadlines and multiple diary management using MS Outlook is essential. The role demands a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, along with the ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. The successful candidate will be adaptable and flexible with regards to changing workloads and priorities, able to establish productive relationships with colleagues across the School and Faculty. Ability to teach Coaching Psychology/Positive Psychology would be welcomed in addition. You will have a research background and interest in Social Psychology and will already hold a relevant PhD.
