The University of Bari Aldo Moro (UBAM) is a young public university located in Southern Italy’s historic capital Bari, on the Adriatic Sea. 

The university bears the name of Italian politician and UBAM alumni Aldo Romeo Luigi Moro, who was a leader of the Christian Democratic party in the country and a prime minister in Italy’s post-war period. 

Established in 1925, UBAM is committed to excellence in teaching and research. It is among the most distinguished higher education institutions in southern Italy, and has a particular focus on research conducted at the doctoral level. It currently hosts one of the largest student communities in Italy with more than 60,000 scholars on campus. 

With more than 12 departments focusing on multidisciplinary research in a wide range of subjects from agricultural science, foreign languages and literature, law to political science, communication studies and economics, the higher education institution has proved to be an attractive educational destination for not only Italian, but also international students. 

UBAM is part of numerous European and international networks such as the European University Association and the Community of Mediterranean Universities to encourage academic collaboration and foster research.

Deliver financial services aligned with strategic priorities, driving continuous improvement in financial processes, and actively contribute to shaping business decisions. They also provide authoritative financial guidance and risk management expertise and actively participate in the development and enhancement of finance-related policies and procedures. The Finance Manager works under broad direction, translating accountabilities into tasks to deliver against goals. Description The Water Research Center (WRC) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Research Scientist to work on advanced membrane technologies for desalination. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Raed Hashaikeh. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research on functional membrane development at both bench and pilot scales. The research focuses on the development of advanced functional materials and processes for sustainable water treatment and desalination. This research is conducted within the Water Research Center (WRC) at NYUAD and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams across mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, and physics. The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and will contribute to projects spanning fundamental materials development to applied pilot-scale systems. Responsibilities of the position include conducting experimental and/or analytical research on membrane-based desalination technologies (e.g., reverse osmosis, forward osmosis, nanofiltration, membrane distillation), developing novel functional materials, designing and executing lab and field studies, analyzing and interpreting data, contributing to publications and patents, and presenting research findings at meetings and conferences. The candidate will also collaborate with local and international research partners and may participate in limited teaching or mentoring activities. Candidate Qualification and Experience Requirements Candidates must hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field, with at least 6 years of relevant experience in their field (not including the years obtaining the PhD). The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record, including first-author papers, and demonstrated experience in membrane fabrication and characterization. Familiarity with analytical techniques such as XRD, TGA, DSC, DMA, BET, and porometry is highly desirable. Background in analytical or organic chemistry is an asset. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Based in Shanghai, you will contribute to a joint programme between the University of Waikato and Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), delivering the first year of a Bachelor of Business degree. As a Teaching Fellow, you will play a key role in shaping students' academic foundations before they transition to New Zealand to complete their studies. This position offers the chance to work at the intersection of cultures, supporting students as they develop the knowledge, confidence and international perspective needed for future success. You will deliver high-quality teaching across a range of introductory business subjects, support student learning and wellbeing, and contribute to programme coordination and administration. Beyond the classroom, you will engage closely with students, parents and partner staff, helping to foster a supportive and globally connected learning environment. This is a full-time, three-year position (which may be extended), based in Shanghai, commencing in August 2026. Salary will be in the range NZD81,000-97,000 per year, pro-rata based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. An attractive benefits package is included. You are an experienced and engaging educator with a passion for teaching in an international context. You bring a strong foundation in business management and economics, along with the ability to connect with diverse student cohorts and deliver high-quality learning experiences. You will also have: A master's degree in business, with a specialisation in economics; a PhD would be an advantage Demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching, with at least two years of full-time experience, including lectures and small group delivery Ability to teach a range of introductory business subjects Strong understanding of cross-cultural teaching, preferably with experience in China Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff and external partners A proactive, adaptable approach and a willingness to contribute to programme development and administration Experience working with international students and an interest in innovative teaching methods will be advantageous.
