The Federal University of Goias (UFG) is a public university located in the state of Goias, central Brazil.

Founded in 1960, the university maintains a number of campuses across Goias, in Goiânia, Aparecida de Goiânia, Jataí, Catalão and Goiás. They are primarily in the state capital of Goiania, however.

Goiania is a modern city, planned from its inception in 1933, and is a major industrial zone in the region. As a result it can offer all the trappings of a modern city, such as extensive retail parks and effective transport links, as well as laying claim to being one of the greenest cities in the world.

The university itself manages a 360 acre biological reserve, as well as numerous teaching and research facilities throughout the region. These consist of a number of teaching and research labs, particularly in the field of computer science, as well as a number of larger scientific facilities.

Academically, the university offers more than 40 different undergraduate degree courses, with many of these being available to study at multiple campuses, such as those maintained in smaller regional cities such as Catalao and Jatai.

Aside from undergraduate degree programs, the Federal University of Goias has an even higher number of graduate programs, nearly 70 in total. Master's degrees across a wide range of academic fields are offered, as well as a number of doctoral opportunities.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary purpose of this role is to deliver on a collaborative research project, Proteins for Singapore (P4SG), where you will be part of the research team to establish and understand the structuration of algae/soybean/mung bean proteins for high quality alternative protein foods including through high moisture extrusion. Key responsibilities will include: Explore innovative methods for food process optimization including the use of AI and machine-learning Develop and execute methods for characterizing and linking the texture and structure of alternative protein foods Design, execute, and interpret experiments independently. Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigators (PI), and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables including periodic progress reports are met. Author papers in high-quality journals and contribute to grant writing in areas that are related to the research. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as manage a team of junior researchers and students to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by supervisor. Ideal qualities of the candidate include: Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university. Self-directed learner who believes in continuous learning and development Highly proficient in technical writing and presentation  Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Strong initiative and takes ownership of work The candidate should have relevant competence in the areas of processing technology, physical and structural analysis, material formulation, and mathmatical modeling. The candidate should also have a PhD or other advanced degree in a food or engineering related field. Knowledge of food formulation, sensory analysis, extrusion technology, machine learning, and rheology will be advantageous.

Research Fellow on Perceptual Evaluations and Data Curation for Spatial Music

The role Applications are invited for a Research Fellow (RF) position for 8 months within the Centre for Vision Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP), University of Surrey, UK, to work on perceptual evaluations and data curation for spatial music.  The post is funded by a leading industry partner. The focus will be to organise and perform listening tests to evaluate the perceptual quality of spatialised music audio, record the listening scores from each subject, perform statistical analysis of the listening test data, and organise the data files. The post-holder is expected to collaborate with other team members, such as the Research Fellow who focuses on building machine learning models for perceptual quality prediction.  About you The post-holder is expected to have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in electronic engineering, computer science, psychology of hearing, or a related field. Preference will be given to those who have experience on listening test, data curation, audio perception, psychoacoustics, but candidates who have experience in spatial audio and music audio are welcome to apply. The post-holder is expected to have skills in using software tools to manage and curate datasets with listening test scores.  The post-holder will be based in CVSSP, and work under the direction of the Principal Investigator Prof Wenwu Wang, and in collaboration with the industrial partner. CVSSP is an International Centre of Excellence for research in Audio-Visual Machine Perception and AI, with over 180 researchers. The Centre has state-of-the-art audio and video capture and analysis facilities supporting research in real-time video and audio processing and visualisation. CVSSP has a compute facility with 300 GPUs and >2PB of high-speed secure storage. The role This is an exciting opportunity to join i-MOBYL, a European consortium project exploring how young adolescents (aged 11-15 years) can be empowered to travel more actively, independently, and sustainably in their everyday lives. This Research Fellow role is offered at 0.8 FTE for two years. Working with Dr. Eleanor Ratcliffe and an international consortium of academics, practitioners, and community partners, you will: Coordinate a Living Lab based in north-west Guildford, with a local secondary school and municipal partner; and Lead mixed-methods research to assess the acceptability, feasibility, and potential impacts of mobility interventions. The role combines community engagement and co-design, data collection and analysis, collaboration with local and international stakeholders, and the dissemination of findings through academic and non-academic outputs. As a postdoctoral researcher you will join Surrey's Environmental Psychology Research Group (EPRG), an internationally-renowned centre for teaching and research on environmental psychology that has been active since the 1970s. The EPRG provides a supportive and dynamic setting for the professional development of early-career researchers, and the opportunity to collaborate with world leaders in environmental psychology.
