About Federal University of Goiás

Basic information and contact details for Federal University of Goiás

The Federal University of Goias (UFG) is a public university located in the state of Goias, central Brazil.

Founded in 1960, the university maintains a number of campuses across Goias, in Goiânia, Aparecida de Goiânia, Jataí, Catalão and Goiás. They are primarily in the state capital of Goiania, however.

Goiania is a modern city, planned from its inception in 1933, and is a major industrial zone in the region. As a result it can offer all the trappings of a modern city, such as extensive retail parks and effective transport links, as well as laying claim to being one of the greenest cities in the world.

The university itself manages a 360 acre biological reserve, as well as numerous teaching and research facilities throughout the region. These consist of a number of teaching and research labs, particularly in the field of computer science, as well as a number of larger scientific facilities.

Academically, the university offers more than 40 different undergraduate degree courses, with many of these being available to study at multiple campuses, such as those maintained in smaller regional cities such as Catalao and Jatai.

Aside from undergraduate degree programs, the Federal University of Goias has an even higher number of graduate programs, nearly 70 in total. Master's degrees across a wide range of academic fields are offered, as well as a number of doctoral opportunities.
