About the University of Antioquia

Colombia’s oldest public university, the University of Antioquia (UdeA), was founded in 1803 under the Constitution of the State of Antioquia, and is one of the country’s largest higher education institutions, with a total of 13 campuses situated all over the region.

The main campus is in Medellin, Colombia’s second largest city, and there are also other university buildings spread across the city. Along with eight faculties, three institutes and the main administrative building, the main campus also hosts the University Museum, the University Theatre, the Central Library and a large sports centre.

The University Research Headquarters supports nearly 40 research groups working in a diverse variety of fields.

There are 14 autonomous schools, four colleges and four institutes within the University of Antioquia. The university also boasts three academic corporations in the fields of environmental studies, biomedical sciences and tropical diseases – these organisations aim to recruit some of the best researchers in their fields to advance and develop massive research projects, in collaboration with other institutions both in Colombia and the wider world.

The university boasts about 80 undergraduate courses, more than 180 master’s courses and 11 doctoral courses, and has good international relations with a number of universities, including the Polytechnic University of Turin and the University of Sao Paolo.

Five former Colombian presidents have come through the University of Antioquia, namely Alvaro Uribe Velez, Mariano Ospina Perez, Carlos Restrepo, Liborio Mejia and Mariano Ospina Rodriguez. Writer Tomas Carrasquilla and former Senator of Colombia Carlos Gaviria Diaz are also among the university’s alumni.

(plus 17% superannuation) Mildura, VIC (flexible/ hybrid arrangements considered) We are seeking a Research Associate / Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level A) or Research Fellow (Level B) to join the Gulbali Institute as part of the Digital Agricultural Futures program. Based in Mildura at the One Basin Regional Hub, this role focuses on preparing the future workforce for digital irrigated agriculture. You will work closely with academics, industry partners, education providers and communities across the Murray-Darling Basin, contributing to research that explores digital literacy, education frameworks and innovative delivery models for contemporary agriculture. At Level A, the role contributes to research delivery under the guidance of senior researchers, supporting data collection, analysis, stakeholder engagement and co-authored outputs. At Level B, the role takes a more independent and substantive leadership position, leading defined research components, cultivating partnerships, and producing high-quality scholarly and industry-focused outputs. Regular interstate travel is required, along with strong collaboration across multidisciplinary and industry-linked projects funded by the One Basin CRC. About you You are a motivated and collaborative researcher with a strong interest in the intersection of digital technologies, agriculture and workforce development. To be successful, you will bring: Level A: A relevant postgraduate qualification (Masters or PhD) or equivalent experience in digital agriculture, irrigation, spatial science or related fields. Level B: A completed PhD (or equivalent standing) with demonstrated independent research capability. Experience in applied or multidisciplinary research environments, ideally connected to agriculture, education, or regional systems. Knowledge of, or interest in, education and training frameworks, workforce development or professional learning. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with researchers, industry and community stakeholders. The ability to manage priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and contribute to impactful research outcomes. About the position This is a critical leadership role within La Trobe’s Integrity Office, focused on strengthening a safe, respectful and accountable university environment. Reporting to the Director, Integrity Office, the Manager, Safer Community and Student Conduct leads the University’s response to complex and sensitive matters involving student conduct, safer community, child safety and behavioural risk. You’ll oversee end-to-end case management and investigations—ensuring matters are handled with care, consistency and procedural fairness—while also providing trusted advice to senior leaders on risk, governance and institutional response. This role has a strong strategic lens, using data and insights to improve policy, systems and practice across the University, while also acting as the University’s Child Safety Officer.
