About UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi

UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, established in 2017, is a public university formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. It has a history that dates back to 1957 when the Jambi Ulama Congress agreed that there was a need for a higher education institution in the Jambi region.

The university was named in honour of Sultan Thaha Syaifuddin, the last Sultan of the Jambi Sultanate. In 1977 he became a National Hero of Indonesia.

The university is organised into seven faculties: Sharia faculty, faculty of Tarbiyah and teacher training, faculty of Usuluddin and religious studies, faculty of Adab, faculty of Da’wah, faculty of Islamic economics and business, and the faculty of science and technology. Within each faculty are a number of departments offering various undergraduate degree programmes.

There is also the graduate school, which provides education in specialised areas for students looking to further their studies and develop their research skills.

The university is located in Jambi, a city on the east coast of the island of Sumatra.
