About Ufa State Petroleum Technological University

Ufa State Petroleum Technological University is a public higher education institution specialising in technology, based in the Russian city of Ufa, in the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Founded in 1948, the university has grown to become one of the leading technical training institutions in Russia, with a graduate base of over 100,000 engineers and technical specialists.

The university offers more than 100 undergraduate and master’s courses across all levels of the oil and gas industry, including exploration, development, transportation, storage, refining and marketing, to economics and business management.

Teaching and research is split across two institutes and seven core faculties. The university also offers pre-degree foundation courses, 29 postgraduate courses and five doctoral training programmes, which take place in special doctoral training facilities.

Around 18,000 students from 56 regions of Russia and 52 other countries attend the. Around 7.4 per cent of students are international, which makes Ufa State Petroleum Technological University one of the most internationally diverse student bodies in Russia.

International cooperation is integral to the university’s aims, and the university has several partnership agreements with like-minded technical universities as well as major companies across the world.

The university has three campus branches across the Bashkortostan region: Oktyabrsky, Salavat and Sterlitamak. Each has access to a library and sports facilities.

Students are encouraged to take part in extracurricular social groups and cultural activities, which are showcased in the university calendar’s several organised festival days for national culture.

Notable alumni include a number of well-known Russian politicians and business leaders, including Martaza Rakhimov, president of Bashkortostan.
