My name is Jimmy, and I am from the state of Connecticut in the US. I studied abroad at UEES, and had a wonderful experience. The staff at UEES made me feel very welcome as did my host family. It was my first experience outside of the United States, and I was grateful to land in Guayaquil, in a community that welcomed me with love. I especially learned from my classmates. Hearing their perspective on life, on culture, and on politics truly expanded my world view. I am a big sports fan, and the highlight of my trip was going to a few Barcelona football games. The stadium is so, so loud and passionate. Much louder than games in the US! It was exciting when Barcelona won the championship that year! 8 years later, I am still very grateful for the lessons I learned at UEES and in Ecuador in general. Thank you! Jimmy Hannigan I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Ecuador. I had an incredible experience. The orientation that we had was incredible and helped me to form those really close friendships from the beginning. I enjoyed the trips that we went on, though I think if they all had been earlier that is the best. I also had a really fantastic home stay experience with Nízida Cabanilla and we were a complete perfect match for one another. I also really appreciated my classes, most especially with Angelike and Mariuxi. Both of those professors were amazing and truly dedicated to the students. I especially appreciated the field trips we did with our Spanish class to the museums of Guayaquil and cultural events. I also would love to speak about the incredible resource that Christian (IAO staff member) was for me. He would always provide thorough answers to my questions, was patient, and if he didn’t have an answer would diligently work to help me find the answer. I got so much out of my study abroad experience and the staff at UEES and the students were so kind and so incredible so I just wanted to let you know and thank you for everything. Julia Freer
