Few universities anywhere can have experienced more change in a single year than Telecom Paris in 2019. In June it adopted its present name after a decade as Telecom Paris Tech and in the autumn is due to move to a new campus in Paris-Saclay as part of a federation of institutions it was hoped might become the "French MIT".

The name change was one of a number dating back to its foundation in Paris in 1878 as the Ecole Professionel Superieure des Postes et Telegraphes. A notable history includes being the source, through director Edouard Estaunce of the word "telecommunications" in 1904.

Highly selective via examination, like all of France’s Grandes Ecoles, it recruits around 250 graduate students, a third or so of them from abroad, each year. There are four departments – electronics and communications, computer science and networking, signal and image processing and economic and social science.

Based in the Rue Barrault in southern Paris in 1934, it will move to its new Palaiseau campus, close to the Ecole Polytechnique and with several other research institutions sharing the same site forming the Institute Polytechnique de Paris, the putative "French MIT".

This continues a history of productive networking reflected in membership of the Groupe des Ecoles de Telecommunication since 1996, Paris Tech and the 13-member IMT group of Mines and Telecoms schools.

Specialist laboratories include the Interdisciplinary Institute of Innovation and the Information, Processing and Communications Laboratory (LTCI). The Entrepreneur Incubator usually has around 40 companies in situ and is reckoned to have launched close to 400 enterprises.

The Environmental Sustainability and Energy Team is a small but high impact team; in 2025 it achieved Eco Campus Platinum and ISO50001 Certification and supported the institution to reach 15th place in the People and Planet University League. We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join this driven and passionate team to lead on the implementation of two key sustainability delivery plans. We are looking for an Environmental Sustainability Manager who will be responsible for coordinating and delivering numerous workstreams under the Liverpool John Moores University Climate and Sustainability Plan. You will work to embed environmental sustainability into university day-to-day operations and support the university’s ambition of achieving Net Zero Carbon. The role will require flexibility across all sustainability themes, but key responsibilities will be to implement the Biodiversity and Active and Sustainable Travel Delivery Plans and to support the maintenance of the Environmental and Energy Management System (ISO14001/ISO50001 aligned). You will be based within Estate Development but will be expected to engage with key stakeholders and collaborate across university professional, academic and student communities to coordinate and drive activity to deliver continuous performance improvement. You will have a degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Ecology, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline; strong knowledge of biodiversity and ecological monitoring, including key species groups (birds, pollinators, bats); experience of ecological survey design, coordination, data collection, analysis, and reporting; have knowledge of relevant UK and regional policy frameworks relating to biodiversity, green infrastructure, sustainable transport, and climate resilience; have strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to deliver complex projects to budget and timescale. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders. Description The Modern Compilers Lab in the Computer Science program at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research assistant to work on the intersection of compilers and deep learning. Many companies, such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon are building new specialized programming frameworks. This is because these companies need to allow their users to write simple, high-level code and run it efficiently on different hardware architectures. For example, Google has built TensorFlow, a framework for deep learning allowing users to run deep learning on multiple hardware architectures without changing the code. Our research team at NYUAD (New York University Abu Dhabi) is developing a new programming framework called Tiramisu [1]. Unlike existing frameworks, Tiramisu can perform advanced code optimizations that are hard to apply otherwise. Because of this, Tiramisu can generate fast code that outperforms highly optimized code written by expert programmers and can target different hardware architectures (multicore, GPUs, FPGAs, and  distributed machines). In order to have the best performance (fastest execution) for a given Tiramisu program, many code optimizations should be applied. Optimizations include vectorization (using hardware vector instructions), parallelization (running loop iterations in parallel), enhancing data locality by fusion, and blocking (i.e. accessing arrays in a way that improves temporal and spatial data locality). A large number of optimizations exist and choosing which optimization should be used and which should not is important for performance.  In some situations, some optimizations are harmful to performance while they are beneficial in other situations. Currently, there is no way to help users choose which optimizations should be used. Expert programmers usually spend a lot of time trying different optimizations manually to find the best set of optimizations. The goal of this project is to add support for automatic code optimization in Tiramisu.  In particular, we want to use machine learning/deep learning to achieve this. Currently, a basic automatic optimization module that relies on machine learning has been developed and we want to take that module to the next level. The final product of this project would be a compiler pass that allows Tiramisu to automatically choose which optimization should be used for a given unoptimized program. We want to produce a high-quality technique that can be used by the users of Tiramisu and especially by our partner companies and research labs. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, though a master’s degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have Internship or experience in the areas of compilers and artificial intelligence. Description The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is announcing the opening of an Artist-in-Residence program and is welcoming applications from artists to fill the fourth position to start on September 1, 2026. The CGSB was established in 2012 to develop a world-class research environment at NYUAD and in the UAE. The NYUAD-CGSB includes a diverse array of research programs oriented around two main directions, “Biomedicine and Health” and “Environmental Adaptation and Sustainability”. The CGSB encourages and promotes scientific and cultural interactions by regularly hosting events such as lectures, workshops, and Science Cafés, facilitating the exchange of ideas and knowledge between program participants and the community. The Artist-in-Residence program is an extension of this effort and will bring together scientists and artists to collaborate, communicate, interact, and learn, promoting the creative thinking that drives innovation. A Research Technician position is available in the Centre for Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital. This is a newly constructed, dedicated research building that is the result of a significant fund-raising campaign. It builds on a 40 year history of pioneering immunology and cancer research at Southampton, and represents the first dedicated cancer immunology centre in the UK. The activities in this centre span from pioneering discovery science to applied research and preclinical modelling and, crucially, onto first-in-human clinical trials and beyond. The centre houses world-class research facilities, including state-of-the-art scientific laboratories and a clinical trials unit. The position is associated with the laboratory of Professors Ward and Ober. Their interdisciplinary research program is dedicated to the development of novel antibody-based therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and autoimmunity. This research has led to several therapeutics that are currently in advanced clinical trials or approved for clinical use. The group also develops advanced microscopy techniques for the evaluation of novel therapeutics in cellular environments. Their research is supported by major grants from the Welcome Trust, Cancer Research UK and support from collaborating biopharma companies. The appointee will be highly motivated and excited by the challenges involved in supporting a dynamic, interdisciplinary group of researchers. The appointee’s role will be to provide support with the day-to-day running of the laboratory by providing technical support for the experimental work of post-doctoral fellows, research scientists and graduate students, combined with the ordering and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and supplies. The position holder will be expected to be familiar with biosafety and other regulatory processes and follow these procedures as necessary.  It is essential to have a skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant technical support roles and job-related training. The role requires the ability to plan and organise your workload, work well under pressure and communicate effectively and professionally with other laboratory members. A scientific knowledge in a biological field equivalent to B.Sc. level is extremely desirable. The post-holder will possess relevant academic qualifications and work experience as well as good IT skills. The position is for one year.
