The Sumy State Pedagogical University, named after AS Makarenko was founded in December 1924.
It is located in North-Eastern Ukraine and offers programmes at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level.
The university is organised into four institutes: the educational and scientific institute of pedagogy and psychology; the educational and scientific institute of physical culture; the educational and scientific institute of history, law and international relations; and the educational and scientific institute of culture and arts.
In addition, there are three faculties: natural and geographical; physical and mathematical; and foreign and Slavic philology.
Student dormitories are provided in an area of the university known as “Student town”. Facilities also include a scientific library, a biostation, a sports complex and a botanical garden.
