Founded in 2011 as part of a multi-year collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) is a private graduate research institute located in Moscow, Russia.
The institution’s nine centres for research, education and innovation span the fields of life sciences, neurobiology and brain restoration, computational and data-intensive science, energy science and technology, hydrocarbon recovery, design manufacturing and materials, space and photonics and quantum materials.
Each research centre runs collaborative research programmes between Skoltech and other international and Russian institutions. The university offers a range of interdisciplinary courses at the master’s and PhD level.
Notable alumni include Jacob D. Biamonte, known for his work in the field of quantum physics, Andrzej Cichocki, researcher and author of several works about machine learning, and Artem Oganov, a chemist who has made great progress in the field of crystal structure production.
