Sivas University of Science and Technology, in central Turkey, was founded in 2018. Five years later, it was granted the title of “University specialising in optics.”
The modern university sits in an ancient city: former residents include the Hittites, the Assyrians, the Persians and the Romans. It is home to the Great Mosque and Hospital of Divriği, a Unesco World Heritage site, as well as the largest surviving Hittite temples in the world.
The university’s degree courses are taught by three faculties – the faculty of engineering and natural sciences; the faculty of aeronautics and astronautics; and the faculty of agricultural sciences and technologies – which run alongside the Sivas vocational school.
Sivas offers dormitory space to every student who requests it. State dormitories offer social and cultural activities, alongside accommodation. Alternative accommodation in privately owned dormitories or student apartments is also available.
