Schemes of Service: Research Division: Food, Chemical and Biotechnology Employment Type: Fixed Term As a University of Applied Learning, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry partners to deliver translational, impact-driven research. This role supports applied food processing research projects with strong industry relevance, focusing on product development, process optimization and food characterization. Key Responsibilities Lead bench formulation of mushroom‑based and plant‑based food products, especially focusing on muscle‑like architectures to achieve required texture, flavour, and nutrition performance during cooking, reheating, and storage. Apply advanced texturisation techniques, including cold extrusion, lamination, and natural tenderisation strategies (e.g. enzyme treatment, solid-state fermentation), to create fibrous, meat‑like structures that replicate bite, chewiness, and elasticity. Translate scalable solutions from upstream processing (e.g. protein gels, fermented ingredients) into robust food formulations by collaboration with culinary experts, and lead pilot‑scale trials at facilities such as SIT FoodPlant to assess manufacturability, reproducibility, and scalability for clinical and consumer studies. Conduct textural, rheological, and sensory characterisation to evaluate product performance and guide formulation refinement. Consolidate formulation, processing, and performance data to support techno‑economic analysis (TEA), life‑cycle assessment (LCA), and cost–benefit analysis (CBA). Prepare scientific manuscripts, technical reports, progress updates, and final deliverables for funding agencies and stakeholders. Engage and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support progress meetings, technology transfer activities, conferences, and approved communication channels. Supervise and mentor junior researchers, engineers, students, and visiting scholars involved in the projects. The candidate is to communicate with all relevant internal and external stakeholders as required to meet the project deliverables. Any other adhoc duties assigned by supervisor. Job Requirements PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related discipline. Strong Master’s degree holders with relevant experience may be considered. Strong background in food formulation, protein‑based systems, and texture design. Hands‑on experience with texturisation technologies, such as extrusion, lamination, gelation, or emulsion‑based structuring. Knowledge of protein gels, microgels, fat mimetics, and structure–function relationships in food matrices. Familiarity with sensory evaluation, texture analysis, and rheological measurements, food system characterization. Experience translating laboratory‑scale formulations into pilot‑scale or industry‑relevant processes. Understanding of nutrition‑driven product design, particularly for vulnerable or special‑needs populations. Ability to integrate culinary considerations into scientific formulation and product development. Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to both scientific rigor and practical feasibility. Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration with engineers, nutritionists, clinicians, and industry partners. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary applied research team. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Good communication and stakeholder management skills, including liaison with vendors, suppliers, and external partners.

As Programme Lead for Software Engineering, this full-time role is expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as the supervision of honours, graduate and postgraduate students. The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor will be expected to maintain professional associations, establish and promote collaborations with industry, and contribute to outreach events. Salary will be in the range of $113,428 to $148,799 for a Senior Lecturer, or $150,661 to $166,176 for an Associate Professor, per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD and have demonstrated teaching and research experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including successful supervision of Masters and Doctoral students, supported by a strong track record of securing competitive research funding. Additionally, experience leading a team of academic colleagues is strongly preferred, as well as a willingness to contribute to both our Hamilton and Tauranga programmes. Who are we? - Ko wai mātou? Dean of Research The Dean of Research is a new senior leadership position within the Sharjah Education Academy. The purpose of the position is to provide leadership to shape and guide SEA’s research strategy. The Dean of Research will ensure that the Academy’s research is rigorous, socially relevant, and regionally transformative. The role is one of three Dean positions (Dean of Research, Dean of Education, Dean of Continuous Professional Learning) reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) and will work collaboratively with other senior administrators and academic leaders to develop and implement the Academy’s research strategy and plan, build research capability across the institution and establish a strong, distinctive doctoral program. The incumbent will be an established and dynamic academic leader with a distinguished track record in research leadership in an education-related field. The Dean of Research will play a pivotal role in driving SEA’s impact on education transformation nationally and within the GCC region. Experience in the UAE/GCC region and bilingual proficiency (Arabic and English) will be highly regarded. Key Responsibilities include: Research strategy and leadership: Develop and execute the Academy's research strategy, promote a strong research culture, and increase research activity and performance in the Academy’s core area of focus. Research quality: Develop, monitor and evaluate research quality across the Academy. Capability building: Lead the development and implementation of research capability and doctoral supervision programs aligned to international good practice. Funding and resource management: Secure local and international research funding and partnerships to drive the Academy’s Strategic vision and plan, manage research budgets, and oversee grant submissions and research project proposals. Collaboration and partnerships: Facilitate cross-institutional collaboration, and build relationships with industry, government, and other external stakeholders to enhance research impact. Institutional effectiveness: Coordinate with other Academy leaders to align research initiatives with institutional planning and to measure and report on research outcomes. Representation and advocacy: Represent the Academy on research-related committees and at national and international forums.  Required qualifications and skills: Academic credentials: A PhD in a relevant field to the Academy’s work  and a strong research track record, ideally in quantitative/mixed method education related research. Strategic thinking: The ability to develop and implement strategic plans aligned with institutional priorities. Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams and provide strategic direction. Communication: High-level interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills and experience leading initiatives with diverse stakeholders.
