Work that matters: The School of Humanities has an opportunity for a casual academic to teach courses in the Spanish Program in Semester 2, 2026. In this casual academic role, you will be expected to facilitate face-to-face seminars and/or tutorials. You will also be required to undertake a range of administrative and assessment-related duties associated with the courses being taught. These may include: preparing and adapting teaching materials uploading learning resources to the University’s Learning Management System (Canvas) grading student work You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and secure records of student attendance, assignment submission and grades for each course. The courses for Semester 2 are: Beginners Spanish B (LANG 1606) Intermediate Spanish B (LANG 2604) Upper-Intermediate Spanish B (LANG 3605) Contemporary Spain (LANG 2505) To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience: Essential: Completion of a Honours degree, or higher qualification in Spanish, Linguistics, Language Education, or closely related discipline. Native or near-native command of Spanish. Demonstrated ability to teach Spanish as a Second or Foreign language (Levels A1-B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR). Demonstrated high-level teaching skills and a reflective approach to language teaching. Knowledge of contemporary teaching, learning and assessment principles relevant to language learning. Fluency in English. Desirable: Enrolled in or completed postgraduate degree in Spanish/Latin American Studies, Linguistics, Language Education (with a focus on Spanish), or a closely related discipline.
