We are seeking an excellent academic to join our staff as a temporary Assistant Professor in Chinese Studies for an anticipated three-year period. The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. He/she/they will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the Chinese Studies section and the School and undertake teaching duties on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Salary: Assistant Professor/Lecturer: €65,401– €103,564 p.a. (7 points) Assistant Lecturer: €42,599– €72,718 p.a. As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in the education of students. Together with a dedicated team of teaching staff, you will make a significant contribution to the students’ success. We want to support young people in developing a curious and critical mindset, thereby laying a solid foundation for future professional challenges. Your workplace: As a Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in the area of training science and performance assessment methods within the Department of Sport and Human Movement Science. This involves delivering instructional teaching, particularly in all areas of performance assessment methods for both health-oriented and competitive sports (endurance and flexibility, as well as strength, speed and coordination). Teaching should convey the close link between scientifically sound theoretical principles and practical applications. In addition, teaching duties may also cover other areas of exercise science and include contributions to the subject of Physical Education and Sport. The working hours amount to 27 hours per week and include a teaching commitment of an average of 16 contract hours per week per Semester. Your future tasks: As a Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in teaching and supervising students in the Department of Sport and Human Movement Science, as well as in the subject of Physical Education and Sport at Bachelor’s and Master’s level. Your core responsibilities will include delivering teaching and supervision sessions in the field of training science and performance assessment methods. We expect (further) development of teaching and learning content in modern formats. We expect you to keep abreast of the current state of the art in the field and to undertake further professional development in teaching methodology during periods when you are not teaching. In addition, the role involves administrative duties, particularly in the administration and organisation of teaching. Responsible AI UK is a £31m programme funded by the UKRI’s Technology Mission Fund. It has established a nationally collaborative platform for the UK, working closely with the internationally leading research centres and institutions across the world. Our goal is to understand how we should shape the development of AI to benefit people, communities and society.  You will, working in partnership with Future Worlds, support the delivery of a national, cross institutional AI and Robotics (AiR) Accelerator and manage the administration of all key component programmes of Research, Advocacy, and Engagement. You will also take the lead role in all operational aspects of the Accelerator to ensure the delivery of its scientific and translational strategy, as well as develop and manage external relationships with academic, investor and industry partners. The post is based within the School of Electronics and Computer Science. To be successful you will have: A proven track record of providing high-level strategic support to senior managers, and providing management of operational, planning, and business-critical projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; personal agility, great time management skills and the ability to build strong credible relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Experience of working collaboratively, coordinating resources and logistical requirements, and managing a team to provide an excellent service to all stakeholders. The ability to review and refine administrative processes, delivering innovative solutions to problems where appropriate. Relevant experience of Higher Education structures would be desirable. The role is offer on a Part-Time (0.5 FTE), fixed term basis until 31 October 2027.
