About Ryazan State Medical University

Ryazan State Medical University was founded in 1950 and named after the academician Ivan Petrovich Pavlov, the Russian physiologist known primarily for his work in classical conditioning.

It focuses on qualitative education and lifelong learning through traditional medical school teaching methods, educational technologies and highly qualified staff. It offers a general medicine degree (MBBS) which is six years long. Courses are directed in English, Russian and French. The admission rate range is 90-100 per cent making the Ryazan State Medical University one of the least selective institutions. It is registered by the World Health Organization in the Directory of World Medical Schools.

Ryazan State Medical University has six faculties: the faculty of general medicine, the faculty of dentistry medicine, the faculty of pharmacy, the medico-preventive faculty, the faculty of clinical psychology and the faculty of postgraduate studies. It’s also a Medical Research Centre of Medical Science and Medical Prophylactic activity, and has collaborations with seven government hospitals and clinical centres in the state of Ryazan.

The university comprises 56 departments, 16 academic buildings, a dental clinic, a central scientific laboratory, a consulting diagnostic polyclinic, a vivarium, a botanic garden, a bee yard, a sports camp, gyms, a mini-football field, two basketball courts and tennis court.

It is located in Ryazan, Ryazan Oblast. The nearest airport is the Moscow Domodedovo Airport in Moscow, Russia. Ryazan is 196km south-east from Moscow and has a population of 1 million people. It’s a major scientific, military and industrial centre of Russia, with a large river port.
