Lead academic excellence in chronic care and aging at one of Australia's leading health precincts Continuing Position with attractive renumeration package About the opportunity The Sydney Medical School is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic leader as Associate Professor or Professor of Chronic Care and Ageing within the Westmead Clinical School. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced clinician-researcher to lead and expand an internationally recognised program of research, education, and clinical innovation in chronic disease and healthy ageing within one of Australia's largest and most diverse health precincts. The role is based at Westmead Clinical School, with a clinical academic appointment through Western Sydney Local Health District. The successful appointee will build on established strengths in frailty and ageing research, including a major frailty research register developed in collaboration with the University of Wollongong and Western Sydney Local Health District. This platform provides a strong foundation for developing interdisciplinary programs and research centres focused on chronic disease, frailty, multimorbidity, and integrated models of care. The appointee will play a key leadership role in shaping research direction, curriculum development, and the training and mentoring of the next generation of clinicians and researchers. They will foster strong partnerships across the University, health services, government, and industry to translate research into improved models of care and health outcomes. In November 2024, the University of Hong Kong LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) was appointed as the operator of GBAICTI. In December 2025, the Real-World Study and Application Centre (RWSAC) was established under GBAICTI to open up local health and medical databases and promote collaboration between Hong Kong and other GBA cities. We are now seeking a high-calibre professional to join the RWSAC (located at Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone) as Chief Data Scientist. Duties and Responsibilities Manage, process, and analyse complex real-world healthcare datasets to generate insights and evidence. Develop and implement data pipelines for the ingestion, curation, and transformation of RWD into the common data model. Conduct advanced statistical analyses and epidemiological studies on RWD.
