National Formosa University is located in Huwai, an urban township in Eastern Taiwan.

Founded in 1980 as Yunlin Provincial Institute of Technology it went through four changes of name before attaining university status and taking its current title in 2004.

The university has international agreements with 15 universities – nine in Asia, three in Europe and three in the US.

As well as colleges of engineering, electronic and computer engineering, management, applied arts and sciences, education and languages, it runs a college of continuing education which offers two-year courses. A new campus is under construction on a 17 hectare site close to the high speed railways station.

It is one of 11 universities who formed the National University System of Taiwan (NUST) alliance in 2021 aimed to promote industrial exchanges and the national "Bilingual by 2030" programme.

School: Graduate School of Development  Duty Station: Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan Reports to: The Rector Deadline: Open until filled About the Graduate School of Development (GSD) GSD is a multidisciplinary academic unit of UCA, dedicated to research, education, and policy engagement focused on the mountain regions of Central Asia. These regions face unique and pressing challenges—from climate change and environmental degradation to socio-economic transformation and cultural preservation. GSD is organised around three disciplinary hubs: Social and Economic Sciences, Environmental and Climate Sciences, and Cultural Studies. These hubs are reflected in GSD’s constituent units: the Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA), Mountain Societies Research Institute (MSRI), Civil Society Initiative (CSI), Cultural Heritage and Humanities Unit (CHHU), the Aga Khan Humanities Project (AKHP), and the Afghanistan Research Initiative. Together, these entities serve as a regional platform for advancing knowledge, policy dialogue, and capacity development, with a strong emphasis on the needs and resilience of mountain societies. GSD has also recently launched an Executive Education programme and is developing a portfolio of postgraduate academic offerings, led by its Associate Dean of Education. Role Purpose The Dean of GSD provides academic, intellectual, and strategic leadership to shape and guide GSD’s mission and growth. The Dean ensures that GSD’s research and educational outputs are academically rigorous, socially relevant, and regionally transformative. This includes steering the School’s research agenda, cultivating institutional partnerships, overseeing the development of postgraduate and executive education programmes, and supporting fundraising and grant development efforts. The role requires a dynamic academic leader with a strong track record in research and policy influence, as well as an understanding of the complex development landscape of Central Asia. The Dean will play a pivotal role in consolidating GSD’s contributions across disciplines and enhancing its impact on sustainable development across the region. Reporting The Dean of GSD reports directly to the Rector of UCA and collaborates with the University’s leadership team. Critical Accountabilities and Outcomes Strategic Leadership Develop and implement GSD’s medium- and long-term research strategy aligned with UCA’s mission. LANGUAGE CENTRE The Language Centre is a university teaching unit with the aim to empower HKBU students with competencies in academic, professional, intercultural, and digital communication, preparing them not only for intellectual growth but also for global engagement and career success. The Centre provides diverse learning opportunities in English, Chinese and other languages, including credit-bearing and supplementary courses and activities, and enhancement services. It houses four sections: Chinese, English, Putonghua and Foreign Languages, with a total of about 50 full-time teaching staff and a small team of research/project staff, supported by an administrative team.  Part-time teachers are also engaged. The annual student enrolment in the Centre’s courses and activities is close to 15,000. We are now looking for a visionary, resourceful and dynamic individual who has extensive relevant teaching, research and administrative experience in language education to lead the Language Centre.  Director of Language Centre (at the rank of Principal Lecturer) (25260419) Reporting directly to the Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), the Director will lead the Language Centre to achieve its mission. Responsibilities: Lead and supervise the development and operations of the Language Centre, ensuring alignment with the Centre’s mission and University’s vision and strategic priorities; Oversee the design, development and delivery of the language curriculum and education activities; and collaborate with academic and administrative units in the University, as well as external partners to promote students’ language, communication and intercultural competencies; Drive innovative pedagogic practices in language education, with reference to the latest development in language education research and relevant educational technologies; and collaborate with local, regional and international partners to undertake relevant projects; Monitor students’ language performance and feedback, and use such data to inform the design and delivery of the language curriculum and activities; Supervise all staff in the Centre and oversee its administration; and Engage in university committees.
