B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) Reference no.: 5428 Our group covers different topics in theoretical chemistry, from the use of advanced electronic structure methods to the development of dynamical approaches to study photochemical reactions, also including machine learning. The group is part of the Cluster of Excellence “MECS- Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage” and the Sonderforschungsbereich TRR234 “CataLight- Light-driven Molecular Catalysts in Hierarchically Structured Materials”, benefiting from many experimental and theoretical collaborations. Your personal sphere of play: The position is at the Institute of Theoretical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry. You will develop excited-state dynamics methods to improve quantum mechanical effects in trajectory-based simulations. The new method will be applied to systems including light atoms, for example hydrogen and proton transfer reactions. The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible. Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means: You are involved in research related to electronic structure theory and non-adiabatic dynamics You will carry out independent computational work, including method development, data analysis and preparation of results for publication. You are expected to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12 months. You engage in teaching (independently and/or in a team) within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. You may occasionally be involved in the organization of meetings, conferences and symposiums. You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration. This is part of your personality: Completed Master's degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Physics, Computational Science or a related field Good knowledge of theoretical chemistry, especially on one or more of the following topics: development of electronic structure theory or non-adiabatic dynamics methods. Hands-on experience with scientific computing and programming skills Good command of written and spoken English and German. The role We are seeking a researcher to join The Politics of Sustainability in Heritage in the Middle East and North Africa project, contributing to innovative work at the intersection of archaeology, environmental history and contemporary heritage policy. In this role, you will collect and analyse archaeological and environmental data from the Middle East, developing critical insights into premodern landscape change and its relevance for present-day sustainability strategies. Alongside your research contribution, you will co-teach modules in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage. About you You have a PhD in Archaeology, or Cultural Heritage, or Near Eastern Studies, or closely equivalent. You have substantial experience in Landscape Archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean and/or the Middle East, including archaeological fieldwork. You bring a detailed understanding of the landscapes, environments, and heritage contexts relevant to this work. You work effectively in teams, collaborating with colleagues and external partners. Competence in GIS, database management, or geodatabase organisation is an advantage. POSITION SUMMARY Championing RMIT Vietnam’s research strategy and innovation growth across Saigon South and Hanoi, the Dean, Research and Innovation, in close collaboration with the Pro Vice-Chancellor and General Director Vietnam, School Deans, Deputy Deans R&I, academic and professional communities, and the R&I Portfolio at RMIT Australia, will lead strategic initiatives aimed at expanding RMIT Vietnam’s research and innovation impact in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region more broadly. Key Accountabilities Strategic leadership and governance: Develop, lead and implement a comprehensive research and innovation strategy aligned with the University's mission and goals. As a senior academic leader for research you will be a critical member of the Executive Leadership Team and support good governance through membership of University research committees and as Chair of the Vietnam Research Committee. Research training culture: RMIT Vietnam has ambitious goals to support Vietnam's growth of the research and innovation ecosystem. Driving a vibrant cohort of Higher Degree by Research candidates based at RMIT Vietnam will be critical to the role that RMIT plays in the R&I ecosystem in Vietnam.
