Founded in 1956, the Middle East Technical University (METU), based in Turkey, specialises in the natural and social sciences. Its motto is: ‘Science is the truest guide in life.’

Architecture was the first academic programme to be taught at the university, which now offers 43 undergraduate, 107 post-graduate and 69 doctorate programmes to around 30,000 students.

METU is organised across five faculties – Architecture, Engineering, Administrative Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Education – and separate graduate schools of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Informatics, Applied Mathematics, and Marine Sciences. 

Originally based within two small buildings, METU gradually grew in size. In 1963 it relocated to its current site in Ankara, becoming the first university campus in the country.

Today, METU is an internationally-focused institution, boasting more income from international research projects than any other Turkish university, with partnerships in place with such leading global organisations as NASA, NATO, the United Nations, the World Bank and Erasmus.

All METU's degree programmes are taught in English and the university is home to over 1,700 international students from almost 100 different countries.

In 2003 it opened an international campus in Northern Cyprus – the first overseas campus of a Turkish university.

Its main campus in Ankara is situated within 11,000 acres of land designed to resemble a forest, complete with a lake – Lake Eymir – which a focal point for students’ recreational activities. While its Erdemli campus, situated on the Mediterranean coast, is the site of META’s Graduate School of Marine Sciences.

Other METU facilities include Turkey’s first science and research development park. Known as METU Technopolis and located on its main campus, the park aims to act as a hub for high-tech start-ups.

The post holder will join a world-class group of scholars and will make significant contributions to various aspects of teaching on our BSc in International Airline and Airport Management and on our MSc in Air Transport Management, as well as to other teaching and administrative activities within the discipline. All candidates should hold a doctoral degree (or be close to obtaining one) and have experience of teaching relevant modules to a high standard of quality within a business school context.  This role is open to scholars from any field of aviation management, but we especially welcome candidates with an applied as well academic perspective on their work. CANADA IMPACT+ RESEARCH CHAIR KPU is seeking two (2) international researchers that will serve as institutional nominations to the Canada Impact+ Research Chairs program. This program is an initiative of the Government of Canada to attract world-leading researchers to Canadian universities. Impact+ Research Chairs will receive long-term funding and support to build impactful applied research programs at KPU. POSITION TYPE: Faculty Regular Full-Time POSITION START: January 1, 2027 POSITION DETAILS AND ELIGIBILITY Per the conditions of the Impact+ program, nominees must be associate or full professors, or must possess necessary qualifications to be appointed at these levels. Nominees must be currently working and living outside of Canada to be eligible. The Impact+ Chairs process occurs in two stages. First, applicants apply to this posting for review by KPU’s internal search committee. The Search committee will then select 2 nominees, who will be supported by KPU to prepare nomination packages to the Impact+ Chairs program. The applicant’s hire is contingent on them being accepted into the Impact+ Research Chair program. If successful, the Chairholder will receive a 75% time-release from teaching, dedicated to applied research associated with this Chair. They will hold a faculty appointment in the academic department that best aligns with their proposed research program.
