The Department of Administrative Science and Administrative Law is a unit of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University which carries out educational and scientific research activities in both of the aforementioned fields, namely administrative law and, traditionally, administrative science. In terms of teaching, it primarily delivers compulsory modules covering the full scope of administrative law – that is, its general and specific parts – particularly within the Master’s programme in Law and Legal Science, the follow-up Master’s programme in Public Administration, and also within the Bachelor’s programmes, as well as a range of compulsory elective subjects focusing on specific areas or topics falling within the scope of administrative law in both the national and European contexts, and also in the field of administrative science. Your duties will include: contributing to the teaching of courses delivered at the department (in particular the general and specific parts, administrative procedural law, and selected topics from the field of administrative science), preparing study and teaching materials, including electronic materials, participation in research activities, including contributions to publications, contributing to the organisational aspects of research and teaching activities, including related administrative tasks. We require: a completed Master’s degree from a law faculty, specialising in Law, a genuine interest in administrative law and public administration, a teaching focus on administrative law, teaching aptitude, or practical teaching experience, the ability to conduct independent academic and research work, ability to teach and publish in Czech and English; knowledge of German an advantage, good character, information regarding the employee’s other employment relationships within the meaning of Section 70 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended. The department has an international profile in social history, economic history, historical anthropology, and the history of knowledge. Trans-epochal and transregional approaches as well as interdisciplinary perspectives on economies and societies are part of its intellectual culture. Your immediate work partners are conducting research on the cultural history of the social in a broad sense, including the history of capitalism (in particular money and debt as social relations), history of the psychological disciplines, colonial history and decolonization, social movements, and the relation between history and social theory. Your own work is focused on the social and cultural history of Europe, or of Europe in the world, 19th to 20th century. A focus on one of the following areas is desirable though not required: History of capitalism, history of the psyche and the self, colonial history and decolonization, gender history, social movements, Austrian or Habsburg history. Important are independence as a researcher and capability for theoretical reflection as well as an interest in interdisciplinary conversations.
