About Klaipeda University

Klaipėda University is located in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipėda. It was formally founded in January 1991 by a decree of the Lithuanian Parliament.

When it was first established it offered courses in three faculties: humanities and natural sciences, marine engineering and pedagogy. In the past three decades, the academic institution has increased its academic offering to now offer 54 undergraduate programmes, four specialised professional courses, 48 graduate degrees and 11 postgraduate (doctoral) study programmes in a range of disciplines including natural sciences, mathematics, humanities, marine engineering, art, pedagogy, social sciences, regional planning, maritime studies, music, and Baltic sea history and archaeology.

Spread over an area of 58 acres, the university consists of six Neo-Gothic buildings, and numerous historic architectures. The university campus is equipped with publishing centres and virtual learning centres as well as the Brabander laboratory which is the the largest Lithuanian exploratory, exclusively designed for students research and marine expeditions.
