To be successful in this position, you will have as a minimum: Skills and knowledge across key Information Technology discipline areas, including (but not limited to) Cyber Security (e.g., Splunk), Cloud Computing (e.g., AWS), Networking (e.g., Cisco CCNA), Database Management (e.g., MySQL, Oracle), and Programming (e.g., Java, Python, cloud based development). Effective interpersonal skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments. This includes effective presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods. Skills and experience in competency-based assessment. Ability in ensuring current and contemporary vocational competence which meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed. Experience in relevant industry, and substantial discipline knowledge Capacity to diagnose learning problems in students, propose and implement effective solutions. Ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team. As a University of Applied Learning, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry partners to develop applied research capabilities that translate directly into real-world deployment. Our research staff are equipped with industry-relevant skills through hands-on work on operational research platforms and systems. The Future Ship and System Design (FSSD) programme aims to develop strategic and innovative design capabilities for the maritime industry in Singapore and globally. We are seeking a certified Power Electrical Engineer to design, analyse, and operate high-power and high-voltage electrical systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation across our facilities. The candicate will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and research team members to manage and execute the project, ensuring that all deliverables are successfully achieved. Key Competencies Design and review high-power electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, generators, and protection schemes Perform power system studies such as load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination Operate and control high-power or high-voltage equipment Lead testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules, standards, and regulatory requirements Support maintenance planning, reliability improvement, and asset management Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment The employee is to communicate with any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties assigned by supervisor. In the Student Hub, we are the first point of contact for students with queries during their time at the University of Southampton. Our role is to take ownership of enquiries, providing accurate, timely solutions and consistent advice through both in‑person and digital contact methods. By offering high‑quality support and guidance, we enable students to focus on their studies and make positive memories that will last a lifetime. Working within a supportive and collaborative core team, you will cover a wide range of topics and develop a strong understanding of the University of Southampton and the wider higher education sector, while building your customer service, communication and problem‑solving skills. You will respond to enquiries through face‑to‑face interactions, telephone calls and digital channels, taking responsibility for resolving issues wherever possible. This includes using sound judgement to triage enquiries and escalate more complex or sensitive cases to specialist services, ensuring students receive clear, accurate and consistent advice. About the role As a Student Hub Advisor, you will support students across a broad range of topics, including academic administration, student fees and funding, accommodation, graduation and ID cards. Working as part of a knowledgeable team, you will gain exposure to a variety of services and processes, with ongoing opportunities to learn, build confidence and develop your skills, supported by experienced colleagues. This is a full‑time, permanent position working on a shift pattern between 12.00 and 20.00, Monday to Friday. The role is primarily based at the Highfield Campus, with a requirement to work across all Student Hub locations in Southampton and at Winchester School of Art. As a student‑facing service, the role is delivered entirely on site and there is no option for hybrid working or working from home.
