INSA Lyon was a founded in 1957 as a specialist engineering school and a grandes écoles. It is a member of the INSA Network, which is the largest organisation for engineering faculties in France. INSA Lyon is also an affiliate of the University of Lyon, the second largest university in the nation.

In the first two years of undergraduate study students will enter a first cycle in which they will study courses across five subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Sciences and Mathematics. In the second cycle students will choose which specialty they will study on a three year course, at the end of which they will receive a Masters of Engineering qualification. Courses will be taught in French, German or English. Of the first cycle of courses, 80% will be in English. INSA Lyon also has an established China programme at Jiao Tong University de Shanghai which is taught to students during the second semester of a school year, between February and September, also in English.

INSA Lyon is partnered with three other tertiary learning facilities in the city, and is able to provide for its students 22 laboratories in which to conduct scientific research. A part of this research the university is in the design and development of industrial tools for associate company INSAVALOR SA, presenting work experience and job opportunities for students.

On the cultural side of the university there are two major events held annually. The ‘24hours’ is in fact a three day fair which hosts over 60 separate events and concerts and is free for students. Every ShroveTuesday a Mardi-Gras style Karnaval is put on show, with a student party in the evening.

The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies Geneva, Switzerland invites applications for a tenured full-time position at the rank of Full Professor Of International Law starting on 1 September 2027 or on a mutually agreed-upon date. We are seeking to hire an outstanding colleague with demonstrated potential for research leadership in international law, especially in the areas of international human rights law and international humanitarian law. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in law or an equivalent academic background and demonstrate excellence in research through completed projects and publications at the highest level and a promising research agenda. The successful candidate will be affiliated to the Department of International Law. They will teach postgraduate courses and supervise master’s dissertations and PhD theses in the Department of International Law. They will also be called upon to teach classes and supervise master’s dissertations in the interdisciplinary programme and may be asked to contribute to executive education programmes. Importantly, they are expected to contribute to the work of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, a joint centre with the University of Geneva, in terms of both governance and teaching. In light of the interdisciplinary character of the Graduate Institute, the selected candidate should be interested in interdisciplinary dialogue, teaching and research. The teaching language is either English or French. Prior knowledge of French is not required, but the successful candidate is expected to acquire at least a passive knowledge of it within two years of being hired. The Graduate Institute’s Department of International Law, with up to 50 specialised courses and close to 30 full-time and visiting faculty each year, has one of the largest and most diverse concentrations of international law scholars worldwide. Proven experience in recombinant protein expression (transient and/or stable expression systems). Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques (nucleic acid extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, etc.).
