Home to more than 40,000 students, Indiana University Bloomington (IU Bloomington) is the largest university in the Indiana University system and is also widely considered to be the flagship institution.

IU Bloomington was established in 1820, with the first class graduating in 1830. In 1867 it became the fourth public university to admit woman on the same basis as men, with Sarah Parke Morrison becoming the first female IU student. The university continued to expand and extension campuses in Kokomo and Fort Wayne were opened in the 1940s, which are now part of the Indiana University system.

The 1,933-acre campus is located in Bloomington in central southern Indiana and many of the university buildings were built in the 1950s and 1960s to accommodate the influx of students from America’s post-World War II baby boom.

Some of the notable university buildings include the 17,000-seat Assembly Hall, the enormous Indiana Memorial Union, and the Herman B Wells Library, which holds more than 4.6 million volumes.

The university sports teams, known as the Hoosiers, participate in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and have won 24 NCAA national championships in a variety of sports including basketball, swimming and soccer.

There are more than 550 academic programs available to students, including over 200 undergraduate majors. IU Bloomington has 16 degree-granting schools and colleges as well as the University Graduate School, which has almost 200 academic programs at master’s and doctoral level.

More than 640,000 people have graduated from IU Bloomington over the years and many have gone on to become leaders in their respective fields.

Among notable alumni are co-founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales, composer Hoagy Carmichael, owner of the Dallas Mavericks Mark Cuban, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ernie Pyle, and Oscar-winning screenwriter Steve Tesich, whose film Breaking Away was shot on the IU Bloomington campus.

Job Purpose:  The Research Engineer will support applied research and innovation in sustainability focusing on, but not limited to, the Built Environment sector, working with internal teams and industry partners to develop practical solutions. The role focuses on translating scientific concepts into scalable solutions that address challenges in mitigating the impact of climate change and meeting environmental sustainability target through resource efficiency, energy management, renewable energy, waste management, and other sustainable solutions for various industries. Research engineers will collaborate closely with faculty, professional officers and industry partners to execute commercially viable solutions that address real-world challenges. In the process, research engineers gain valuable applied research capabilities aligned with evolving industry needs. Key Responsibilities: Applied Research & Development Perform sustainability assessment and analysis for organizational green transition. Develop of sustainability solutions and training roadmap development for organizational green transition, focusing on but not limited to the Built Environment sector. Develop and execute of sustainability projects by conducting experiments, data collection, and analysis for Proof of Concept (POC) and implementation for organisations in, but not limited to, the built environment sector at neighbourhood-scale and building-scale, such as microclimate study, building energy and resource-use efficiency, sustainability strategies and technologies. Position overview The School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics (SLLL) is seeking to enhance the successful teaching program and strong research profile of the Centre for Classical Studies through the appointment of an Associate Lecturer. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach Ancient Greek and Latin at all levels and an active research agenda in any aspect of the languages and literature of Ancient Greece and Rome (this includes language pedagogy). They will be highly motivated, collegial, and collaborative, and expected to contribute to public engagement and service in the Centre and School. They will receive dedicated career development mentoring, including guidance in applying for research funding.  The Centre for Classical Studies teaches three undergraduate majors – Ancient Greek, Latin, and Classical Studies (in translation) – covering Greek and Roman language, literature, history, art, culture, and society from the Bronze Age to the Early Middle Ages. The Centre houses the ANU Classics Museum, a collection of more than 600 artefacts from the ancient Mediterranean world, with a special focus on objects illustrating daily life.   The Centre is focused on cultivating research strengths in areas that contribute to important areas of scholarly and public debate. Research Fellow in Palaeoceanography and Earth System Model Development

The School of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Palaeoceanography and Earth System Model Development. The successful applicant will work on the development and application of the cGENIE Earth system model on multiple sub-projects of the ERC grant ‘Determining the drivers of extinction across space and time’, under the supervision of institutional lead Dr. Richard Stockey and in collaboration with team members at the University of Oxford (led by Prof. Erin Saupe). The post holder will specifically work to generate a series of reconstructive models of 3D ocean biogeochemistry through 1) the last ~800,000 years and 2) the Phanerozoic (last ~540 million years). A key focus of this role is to conduct Earth system model development to improve representation of ocean biogeochemistry in space and time for the intervals focused on in this research project. This is a relatively short-term, specialist Earth system modelling position (15-month duration). The post holder is therefore expected to have prior experience in intermediate complexity Earth system modelling and experience integrating key components of Earth system evolution on these timescales, in particular linking model output to geochemical data and working with astronomical forcings. The successful candidate will either hold, or be nearing completion of, a relevant PhD/DPhil and will have appropriate research experience alongside strong subject-specific expertise. They should be capable of working independently within established research programmes, managing their own research activities and contributing to academic publications. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to clearly present research ideas and findings, as well as representing the research group effectively in meetings and collaborative discussions.
