Liverpool John Moores University has been awarded funding from UKRI to develop the Med-IREN project: Mediterranean critical Infrastructure Resilience Engineering with Nature based solutions (UKRI Horizon Europe HORIZON-MISS-2023-CLIMA-01-02) to further knowledge and practice within the field of durability of construction, to integrate Nature based Solutions into grey infrastructure to strengthen resilience in Mediterranean climate hot spots. LJMU supports the design of structures by quantifying potential waste and incorporating biomaterials using locally available resources, leveraging its expertise in molecular analysis of bio-feedstock, waste valorisation, degradation kinetics & durability, mineralogical phase characterisation of materials, lab-based testing on electrochemical techniques, microstructure performance evaluation and computational modelling. You will be self-motivated with a proven track record on molecular and microstructural analysis, waste valorisation with stabilisation, degradation kinetics & durability and engineering knowledge of electrochemical technique towards durability and performance evaluation of construction materials, aligned with SDGs and experienced on working in a team environment, able to raise the profile and promoting the activities of the project. The researcher assesses and enhances the durability of reinforced zero-cement concrete and bio-based materials compositions, utilising regional and European resources, conduct thorough laboratory testing and self-healing systems and perform a variety of durability tests. The role provides the unique opportunity to work with a driven and hardworking research team within the University, along with researchers from the School of Engineering and Built Environment. You will be self-motivated, highly results-oriented individual with a proven track record of achieving ambitious goals and exceeding expectations in a relevant discipline. The position provides high-level support, management and coordination of the ANU Institute for Space (InSpace) activities, including research translation and business development, pursuing new funding opportunities, program development, program management and performance, and building strategic relationships with key stakeholders. The Manager, Strategic Projects will support the delivery of InSpace’s ambitious target for revenue generation via the creation of the InSpace flagship missions and other major strategic initiatives such as Cooperative Research Centres. The Person The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled, action-oriented leader with postgraduate qualifications in space related research or expertise in a space related research environment and demonstrated experience in business development and engagement in an R&D or technical innovation environment across industry, the start-up community, academia (research) and government. The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator, demonstrating a high-level of analytical and decision-making skills, agility and the ability to build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Europaeum is a network of 17 leading European universities committed to fostering cross-border intellectual exchange, developing the next generation of European thinkers, policy makers, and leaders. It runs an annual programme of high-impact academic events and the flagship Europaeum Scholars Programme, which brings together outstanding doctoral students from across Europe to work collaboratively on policy challenges. An Executive Director is now sought to lead the Europaeum into its next phase. The successful candidate will serve as the organisation’s senior external representative to academic leaders, funders, policymakers, and partners. They will work closely with member universities, and will lead a small, dedicated Oxford-based team. Priorities will include driving fundraising efforts, promoting institutional partnerships, strengthening the Europaeum’s visibility, ensuring smooth internal operations and safeguarding the long-term sustainability of the organisation. Strong candidates will bring experience leading small teams or projects in resource-constrained environments. Strong ambassadorial skills will be critical, as will an aptitude for partnership-building and fundraising. A good understanding of European higher education systems and academic cultures would be useful. The role is suited to an individual with intellectual presence, diplomatic skill, and a passion for making a difference to Europe by fostering the next generation of leaders and building greater collaboration between academia and policy making. The Executive Director could be appointed on a 0.6 FTE to 1.0 basis, with the expectation of a higher percentage for an individual who could combine the Executive Director role with a significant fund-raising role.
