The post holder will work as a key member of the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Facility (NICRF) team to support, coordinate and deliver high-quality clinical research, with a focus on Ophthalmology and Vision Science studies. The role involves coordinating and contributing to a portfolio of clinical trials and research studies on a day-to-day basis, working both independently and under appropriate supervision as required. The post holder will undertake agreed responsibilities within study delivery, which may include participant screening and recruitment, informed consent, clinical assessments, patient care, study management and follow-up, in accordance with study protocols and local and national regulatory, research and professional guidelines, policies and standard operating procedures. Through this role, the post holder will support the growth of the NICRF clinical trial portfolio and contribute to excellence in clinical trial delivery. The post will initially be based within the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Facility (NICRF) and will relocate to the iREACH Health building at Belfast City Hospital on its opening. About the person: The successful applicant must demonstrate the following essential criteria: Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area e.g. Optometry. Registered Optometrist (GOC Registered and appropriate professional indemnity cover). Or eligibility to be registered to fulfil the requirements of the post. Relevant experience in Optometry, post registration. Sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline of research methods and techniques to work within own area. Experience taking retinal images using either fundus photography or Optical Coherence Tomography. Relevant computing skills including Microsoft Office. Liverpool John Moores University has been awarded funding from UKRI to develop the Med-IREN project: Mediterranean critical Infrastructure Resilience Engineering with Nature based solutions (UKRI Horizon Europe HORIZON-MISS-2023-CLIMA-01-02) to further knowledge and practice within the field of durability of construction, to integrate Nature based Solutions into grey infrastructure to strengthen resilience in Mediterranean climate hot spots. LJMU supports the design of structures by quantifying potential waste and incorporating biomaterials using locally available resources, leveraging its expertise in molecular analysis of bio-feedstock, waste valorisation, degradation kinetics & durability, mineralogical phase characterisation of materials, lab-based testing on electrochemical techniques, microstructure performance evaluation and computational modelling. You will be self-motivated with a proven track record on molecular and microstructural analysis, waste valorisation with stabilisation, degradation kinetics & durability and engineering knowledge of electrochemical technique towards durability and performance evaluation of construction materials, aligned with SDGs and experienced on working in a team environment, able to raise the profile and promoting the activities of the project. The researcher assesses and enhances the durability of reinforced zero-cement concrete and bio-based materials compositions, utilising regional and European resources, conduct thorough laboratory testing and self-healing systems and perform a variety of durability tests. The role provides the unique opportunity to work with a driven and hardworking research team within the University, along with researchers from the School of Engineering and Built Environment. Description Laboratory for Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a postdoctoral research associate to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. Laboratory for Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine oversees a variety of exciting projects developing new treatments and diagnostics for cardiovascular, neurologic, and metabolic diseases. The successful applicant will join a number of fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to modulate physiology and neural activity in the brain, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and other peripheral organs. These projects have a high potential for translation towards treating a variety of neurologic and metabolic disorders. These approaches entail device design and manufacturing, drug conjugation, neuroscience, and preclinical model experiments.
