Guangxi Normal University is an institution located in Guilin, within the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of southern China. Founded in 1932 as Guangxi Provincial Teacher’s College, it has evolved into one of the region’s key universities.
Today, the university comprises 24 colleges offering more than 80 undergraduate programmes, 36 master’s degree courses and eight doctoral programmes. Courses include teacher education, Chinese language and literature, history, chemistry and environmental science.
The university operates three campuses: Wangcheng, Yucai and Yanshan, all situated in Guilin. The Yanshan campus is the largest and accommodates the majority of teaching and research facilities. The Wangcheng campus, located in a former Ming dynasty palace, is regarded as one of the most distinctive university campuses in China.
With over 30,000 full-time students, including several hundred international students from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, Guangxi Normal University maintains partnerships with more than 200 institutions worldwide and runs Confucius Institutes in countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and South Africa.

Description The Perception and Active Cognition laboratory in the Center for Brain & Health, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on the mechanisms underlying mental processing speed. The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project that links processing speed measures to previously acquired functional and structural MRI data. The project will also involve simultaneously acquired and co-registered fMRI and EEG measurements. Measures of cognitive “Speed of Processing” are important for studies of healthy aging and many disorders, including multiple sclerosis, autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, and schizophrenia, as well as diabetes and obesity. This project investigates the neural correlates of Speed of Processing and its subcomponents, translating into a more complete understanding of the mechanisms involved and their role in brain health. This project combines MRI and EEG/MEG studies with behavioral, genetic, and clinical measures to yield a more complete picture of how processing speed is related to health outcomes. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.
