As part of its strategic growth in quantum technologies, SIT is expanding its capabilities in Applied Quantum Computing, with a focus on developing hybrid quantum-classical solutions that deliver tangible industry value in the short to medium term. This includes applications combining quantum computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-performance computing (HPC), as well as quantum-inspired algorithms and quantum machine learning (QML). Responsibilities: Lead and contribute to applied quantum computing research projects with industry partners. Develop hybrid quantum-classical applications integrating AI and HPC workflows. Apply VQE, QAOA, QML, quantum annealing, and quantum-inspired algorithms. Develop industry-relevant use cases for near-term quantum advantage. Develop and teach quantum computing courses (CET/PET and undergraduate). Supervise capstone projects and industry-linked research. Engage with the quantum ecosystem and contribute to SIT initiatives. Qualifications: PhD in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 2–5 years of relevant experience after PhD (industry or applied postdoctoral research). Expertise in quantum algorithms and NISQ computing. Experience with hybrid quantum-classical workflows. Proficiency with Qiskit, PennyLane, CUDA-Q or equivalent. Strong programming skills and familiarity with AI/ML tools. Experience in industry collaborations and applied research is preferred. Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering (Civil & Urban Engineering) seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to work on a broader field of geotechnical engineering. Required Qualifications: A successful applicant must have a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on one or more of the following: Centrifuge experimental testing (design, execution, and data interpretation). Numerical modeling and simulation to complement physical experiments. (Preferred) Proficiency in CAD and modeling tools such as SolidWorks for experimental design and apparatus development. And possess at least three years of relevant professional experience, not including the years spent obtaining the terminal degree. Additional background in areas such as artificial intelligence applications in geotechnics, geoenvironmental engineering, geohazards risk assessment, or energy geotechnics will be considered an asset. Research Project: The successful candidate will lead a research project focused on advancing the design, testing, and analysis of resilient and sustainable geotechnical systems using centrifuge modeling. The work will bridge advanced experimental testing with complementary numerical simulation to generate insights for infrastructure and energy applications. The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to: Design, implement, and analyze centrifuge experiments. Integrate findings with numerical models for validation and deeper interpretation. Develop innovative experimental apparatus (SolidWorks proficiency is a plus). Disseminate results through high-quality publications in reputable journals. Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of faculty, postdocs, and students. The Applied Research Fellowship aims to provide doctoral candidates who are about to complete or have recently completed their studies an opportunity to engage in advanced training and/or research at an overseas university for one year. Besides financial support, awardees will also receive academic mentorship. Upon completion of the Fellowship, awardees will be considered for Assistant Professorship. Supported Areas for START - Health Sciences Diagnostic Radiography: Radiography involves the controlled use of ionising radiation, radioactive substances and non-ionising radiation to produce diagnostic quality images of the human body, facilitating the diagnosis and treatment of patients (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Dietetics: Dietetics involves the management of medical conditions and promotion of health through application of food and nutrition. Dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy and implement specific diet strategies for chronic medical conditions, illnesses, or injuries (Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association). Nursing: Registered nurses render health services to individuals, families, and communities (Singapore Nursing Board Code for Nurses and Midwives 2018). Speech and Language Therapy: Speech and Language Therapy involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of communication and swallowing disorders (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Occupational Therapy: Occupational therapy involves assessment and interventions to work or school, self-care, leisure or play, physical environments as well as cognitive, mental and physical components of function to enable individuals affected by physical injury or illness, developmental or learning disabilities, psychosocial dysfunctions or the aging process, to engage in everyday life occupations in order to maximise independent performance of life roles, prevent disability and maintain health (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy involves assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of pain, injury, or any other physical dysfunction, through the use of education, exercise, manual therapy, electro-physical agents, technology or any other treatment for those purposes (Allied Health Professions Act 2011).
