École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), or the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, is a public research university in Lausanne, Switzerland. Unusually for a Swiss university, it is controlled by the federal government. The university originated from the École special de Lausanne, a school with just 11 students. In 1869 it became the technical department of the public Académie de Lausanne. After the academy became the University of Lausanne, the école established itself as a federal institute in its own right: EPFL. EPFL is highly regarded for its research and teaching in engineering. More recently, the university has branched out into the life sciences. It acquired the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research in 2008. The university belongs to the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology Domain, a union of research institutes and universities which also includes ETH Zürich. Like other Swiss universities, EPFL is unselective in its undergraduate admissions. Selection is based on the results of first year exams, which approximately half of students fail. EPFL has a highly international student population, with about half of students coming to study at the university from abroad. EPFL has coordinated ambitious international research projects, including the Blue Brain Project and the Human Brain Project, attempting to reconstruct mammalian and human brains digitally. The institute is home to a nuclear reactor, a fusion reactor and a Blue Gene/Q supercomputer. The EPFL campus in Écublens is located beside Lake Geneva and is powered entirely by electricity produced from hydropower. EPFL has several satellite campuses and facilities in Switzerland. The main campus hosts regular music festivals, and has two museums: the Musée Bolo and Archizoom. Alumni of EPFL include Jacques Dubochet, winner of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, and chess grandmaster Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

Your working environment: As a postdoctoral research assistant at the Department of Romance Studies, you will collaborate in research and teaching as part of Prof. Dr. Judith Frömmer’s team. Our research focuses on French and Italian literature and media studies, with a historical emphasis on the Early Modern Period and Early Modernity and systematic focuses in the field of political theory and semantics, historical narrative research, and inter- and transmedial phenomena. Current research projects are dedicated to Machiavelli, the translation of early modern love poetry, and the poetics of minor characters. The team currently consists of a professor, a postdoctoral research assistant, a doctoral research assistant, an organisational assistant, and other staff members working on the third-party funded project “Petrarch in Global Translation: A Genealogy of Western Love.” The department is part of the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies and offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degree programs in five Romance languages and teacher-training courses for secondary schools in three languages (French, Italian and Spanish). We are dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and translating our research into real-world medical solutions, offering a dynamic and collaborative setting for cutting-edge research.  About The Role We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a multi-disciplinary research group led by Dr N.Safinia and Prof. A.Sanchez-Fueyo at King’s College London’s Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research at the forefront of systems medicine, focusing on the progression of liver cancer and immune mediated liver damage. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to unravel the metabolic drivers of HCC biology and transplant rejection through cutting-edge spatial multi-omics and computational metabolic modeling. The role involves developing and implementing computational methods to integrate single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and metallomics data. Using advanced techniques such as MALDI-MSI metabolic profiling and enzyme-constrained GEMs, the candidate will generate region-specific models to predict metabolic fluxes associated with liver disease. This research will provide key insights into the metabolic alterations driving T cell function within the liver microenvironment in various liver diseases, including transplant rejection and cancer, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. The post is based at the James Black Centre, Denmark Hill campus, and the candidate will report directly to Dr. N.Safinia and Prof. A.Sanchez-Fueyo. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clinicians, computational biologists, and experimentalists, ensuring that computational models are seamlessly integrated with experimental data. Responsibilities also include the supervision of junior researchers and the preparation of high-impact research publications. Description The Embodied AI and Robotics (AIR) Laboratory in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Senior Research Engineer to advance applied research in artificial intelligence and robotics. The successful applicant will contribute to cutting-edge research and development in Embodied AI, with a focus on integrating AI-driven perception, reasoning, and action to enable intelligent robotic behavior across diverse real-world environments. The Senior Research Engineer will play a key role in bridging algorithmic innovation and robot deployment, leading experimental design, system integration, and evaluation on real robotic platforms.
