Dokkyo Medical University is situated in Mibu, the first town in Japan to have female nurses. The institution has roots in the 19th century, but the Medical University was founded in 1973. The on-site medical cenrer opened some years later in 2006. The university has two main schools, the School of Medicine and the School of Nursing, which offer both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in departments that include pathology, neurology and mental health nursing. The campus has a vast range of resources for students such as the university hospital, where they learn practical skills to take with them after their studies are complete. The hospital is fully-functioning, allowing students to interact and learn from patients, and work on research projects. Other facilities include the library, training field and auditorium. The campus itself is a green environment lined with Sakura and Ginko trees, allowing for an escape from the bustling cities nearby. The university works with the University Consortium Tochigi, Mibu Dokkyo Health University and the Tochigi Children’s University for Future Imagination to contribute to vital research in the local area. The university also is committed to being an "open university", offering lectures to the public to benefit society. Mibu itself is around 1.5 hours away from Tokyo, with historical offerings such as the Mibu Castle, which was once home to the Torii Clan. Also popular are the Mibumachi Toy Museum, Bandai Museum and Tochigi Wanpaku Park.

This position will drive innovation through academic expertise in liver studies and translational research. The appointee will foster interdisciplinary collaborations, deliver research-led education, and mentor early-career researchers, ensuring King’s College London remains at the forefront of addressing contemporary healthcare challenges. The role will involve conducting and leading high-impact research aligned to the research themes of the Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies (RW-ILS), while developing and maintaining an externally funded research programme. Core outputs will include: publishing high-quality research outputs in peer-reviewed journals, enhancing the Faculty’s research profile and supporting its Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission; fostering interdisciplinary collaborations within the Faculty and with external research groups, including national and international partners; providing research-led teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the MBBS, MSc, and PGCert courses, ensuring alignment with the Faculty’s education strategy; supervising and mentoring PhD students and early-career researchers, promoting a culture of innovation, excellence, and academic development; contributing to the design and delivery of teaching modules; actively engaging in academic administration and committee work as required, contributing to the Faculty’s strategic and operational goals. Description The theoretical physics group in the Science Division of New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to work on theoretical cosmology including string cosmology and the study of fundamental sources of gravitational waves. The successful applicant will drive independent research on the main open questions facing theoretical cosmology and support research of young postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.
