The Center for Brain and Health (CBH) (https://brainandhealth.org/) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Research Scientist to explore scientific questions related to an in-progress normative brain database. The Research Scientist will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for collection, c, MEG, EEG, and eye tracking. The tentpole of the CBH is a normative brain database - the first of its kind in the region - that includes structural, functional, and diffusion MRI, behavioral and health measures, genetic information, and lifestyle questionnaires

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology, MR Physics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field. Postdoctoral experience or equivalent is preferred. This position requires extensive experience with multimodal MRI, including functional and structural MRI and tractography. Experience with big data analysis techniques is essential. Experience working with other large brain databases is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess strong computational skills and a strong publication record. The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas:


	Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques
	Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services)
	Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset
	Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax
	The political economy of land and its taxation
	Land, fixed resources, and political conflict


The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes.

The qualified candidate will have an MSc or an MA in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams.

This position requires:


	Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict).
	Excellent communication skills in English.
	Ability to work in teams

Associations and collaborative research funding projects with researchers in Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, and Political Science are encouraged. The post-doctoral associate will be hosted in the Social Science Division, near the economics faculty, and can be affiliated with CITIES (infra).

The Department of Behavioral and Cognitive Biology is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the research group of Prof. Narly Golestani. Applicants should have a strong interest and track record of research expertise in the cognitive neuroscience of language, multilingualism and spatial cognition, including entorhinal cortex based spatial grids and cognitive maps. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a PhD in Natural Sciences/Life Sciences and a dissertation field of Biology. Experience in advanced analysis of fMRI (specifically, analysis of grid-like responses in the entorhinal cortex, resting state connectivity, Neuroimaging pipelines (SPM-Toolbox, FSL, Freesurfer, fMRIPrep, CONN-Toolbox) and of structural MRI data is required.

The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES), together with the Division of Engineering, Civil and Urban Engineering Program, at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Post-doctoral Associate in the broad area of geotechnical engineering.

Research Project:

The successful candidate will contribute to a research project focused on the development, testing, and analysis of resilient geotechnical systems. The work will rely on centrifuge modeling, geotechnical laboratory testing, and complementary numerical simulations to improve understanding of soil behavior and geotechnical system performance for infrastructure, energy, and sustainability applications.

The Post-Doctoral Associate will be expected to:

Perform and interpret geotechnical laboratory tests to support the experimental program.


	Plan, design, conduct, and analyze centrifuge model experiments.
	Contribute to the design and development of experimental setups and apparatus, with SolidWorks experience considered an advantage.
	Publish research findings in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
	Work collaboratively with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, students, and other members of a multidisciplinary research team.


Required Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field, with less than 5 years post-recieving the PhD, and with research experience in one or more of the following areas:


	Geotechnical laboratory testing, including soil characterization, sample preparation, mechanical testing, and experimental data analysis.
	Centrifuge experimental modeling, including test design, execution, instrumentation, data collection, and result interpretation.
	Preferred: Experience with CAD and modeling tools, such as SolidWorks, for experimental design and apparatus development.

The eBRAIN Lab (https://ebrain4everyone.com) in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position, to work in the area of research and development (R&D) of next-generation Edge-AI and Embodied-AI Systems with tiny-LLMs, tiny-VLMs, tiny-VLAs; Agentic-AI systems; and Robust Generative AI targeting hallucination, safety and security issues. Besides robustness, systems should also be optimized for high performance and energy-efficiency to realized efficient Embodied/Edge-AI implementations. A key focus will be on investigating novel methods with strong theoretical foundations as well as their full-system deployment in real-world applications from different fields (like autonomous systems, healthcare, and robotics) with cross-validation.

Prof. Shafique’s lab has many-years of R&D experience in cross-layer design and optimization for building energy-efficient and robust brain-inspired, autonomous, and cognitive systems and intelligent vision systems, including efficient learning and inference of complex AI/ML algorithms, specialized neural processing hardware and design tools, and ML security, and their applications in resource-constrained Embodied-AI systems (like autonomous vehicles, UAVs/UGVs, Robotics, smart houses/cities, Wearables, and Healthcare). The long-term vision of the eBRAIN lab is on embedding an energy-efficient and secure electronic brain inside modern cyber-physical systems (CPS) and IoT-Edge devices to enable assistive cognitive technologies that care for / serve humanity and the ecosystem in a safe and green way.

The successful applicants will join and drive a number of fascinating projects on designing, implementing, optimizing, prototyping and testing innovative solutions (software, hardware, or both) for the next-generation embodied-AI, GenAI and Agentic-AI systems, targeting high performance & energy-efficiency, robustness, and trustworthiness. A key focus will be on IP generation, patenting, high-quality publications in top-tier ML/AI, Robotics, and Systems conferences, and efficient prototyping for real-world use-cases. The candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, research engineers, graduate research students and undergraduate students, to investigate cutting-edge scientific methods and to develop full-system prototypes. The eBRAIN lab offers an excellent working environment with an international team of excellent researchers and engineers, high-tech equipment, and active R&D engagement, thereby providing many development possibilities. The candidates are expected to work in a highly collaborative environment with other lab members and industry collaborators.

Requirements:

Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Extensive and sound knowledge of ML, AI, DNN, LLMs/VLMs, Multimodal LLMs, RAG, Agentic frameworks, tinyML, ML frameworks (like PyTorch and Tensorflow), and Prototyping ML systems is required. The candidate should demonstrate a solid experience in practical AI/ML system development. Additional knowledge on MLOps, robust/secure computing, Hallucinations and Alignment, privacy-preserving ML, and ML security is highly desirable. Applicants with strong industrial experience and/or with publications at top/A* ML venues (conferences and journals) are highly preferred. The candidates are also expected to have strong organization, problem-solving, analytical, communication and writing skills as well as high motivation to pursue world-class research and development for practical ML/AI systems.
