Applications are now invited for the following post: Research Assistant Professor Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (Post Ref.: 25/312) Established in 2021, the Institute of Insurance and Risk Management is a department-level, research-focused unit which holds the Lingnan University-Sun Yat-sen University GBA Research Institute for Insurance and a Risk Management (LU-SYSU IRM). The Institute’s goal is to become a leading centre of excellence in research activities and talent trainings for the risk management and insurance industry in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, and the Region. Description The Sreenivasan Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Research Assistant to conduct studies examining working memory in human subjects. Applicants with a background in programming and interest in working memory are encouraged to apply. Terms of employment include competitive salary and benefits. Research in the Sreenivasan Lab (http://nyuad.nyu.edu/sreenivasan-lab) focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms that constrain working memory ability. Our projects involve collaborations with Psychology and Biology faculty at NYUAD as well as Psychology faculty at NYU New York. The neuroimaging facilities at NYUAD include a 3T Prisma MRI, MEG, EEG, and eye tracking. Responsibilities of the position include collecting behavioral and neurophysiological data, programming experiments and analysis routines, as well as managing the day-to-day functioning of the lab. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, though a master’s degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with MATLAB or an equivalent programming language, strong computational skills, and a background in experimental psychology or neuroscience. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience and interest in addressing questions about working memory using neuroimaging. Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. Current research directions include: Reversible material representation methods for accelerated inverse design Large language, diffusion & graph neural models for materials discovery Fine tuning and architecture optimisation of foundation models Inverse design of next generation functional materials (e.g. energy, sustainability) The group partners closely with leading institutes in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and worldwide, offering an exciting, collaborative research environment. The appointee will work as part of the team. This involves (1) conducting independent and collaborative research leading to publications in top tier journals and conferences; (2) contributing to grant proposal writing and collaborative projects; and (3) mentoring junior researchers and assisting with laboratory management. Requirements The candidate should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification in Materials Science, Mechanical / Applied Mechanics, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field for no more than three years prior to the commencement of the appointment.
