Until 1995, AUEB only offered one degree which was centred around the subject of business and commerce. Established in 1989, AUEB’s Department of Statistics was the first of its kind in the whole country and today provides both undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses.
AUEB is perhaps best known as a research-focused university. The activities undertaken by its members in the research field are generally either basic theoretical research, which hopes to advance understanding in various fields, or applied research which aims to resolve major issues, often related to the economy or society.
Around 3,000 people start an AUEB degree course each year, and the total number of students has been steadily increasing.
AUEB has a number of international partnerships including relationships with more than 200 universities across the world, allowing AUEB students to study abroad and paving the way for AUEB to establish research and academic projects with international institutions.
