Description The Division of Engineering and the Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES) at New York University Abu Dhabi are inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate to join the research group of Prof. Monica Menendez. The group focuses on monitoring, modeling, and controlling the operations of multimodal transportation systems. Particular attention is paid to new vehicle technologies and data sources; as well as the combination of traditional traffic flow theory concepts with new empirically derived models and data science ideas. Applicants must have received a PhD in engineering, computer science, urban science, or a related field. Experience in transportation, in particular related to urban science is required. Additionally, excellent communication skills in English and scientific creativity are essential. Salary is dependent upon qualifications. Description The Center for Astrophysics and Space Science (CASS) at NYUAD is looking to appoint new independent fellows working in one (or more) of the following center's research fields Extrasolar Planets Galactic Astrophysics (including compact objects) Extragalactic Astrophysics and Cosmology Astroparticle Physics (Dark Matter searches, gamma-ray spectroscopy, gravitational waves) The center currently consists of eight faculty members and more than 25 researchers and PhD students. The Center possesses the unique possibility to investigate fundamental questions in astrophysics, astroparticle physics, and planetary physics from several points of view, with the expertise of its members ranging from collecting and analyzing state-of-the-art data on the nature of the visible and invisible matter in the Universe, to detailed theoretical and numerical studies from planets to galaxies, and linking them together cohesively. We expect successful applicants to work towards improving the collaborations and connections among the different areas. The center fellows will have access to a 70,000-core Infiniband Cluster (Jubail) dedicated to the science division, several GPU-based clusters at NYUAD, and other supercomputer facilities through the CASS network. NYUAD also has guaranteed observing time on the Green Bank Telescope, the Very Long Baseline Array, and Las Cumbres Observatory, and is a participant in SDSS-V. The Doctoral Candidate will: Develop and validate signal processing concepts for efficient large-array systems Design energy-efficient hardware architectures for beamforming Perform system-level modelling and simulations (e.g., MATLAB or similar tools) Design, tape out, and experimentally characterize integrated circuit prototypes Disseminate results through leading international journals and conferences Develop research collaboration with DCs in the Tampere University, ANCHOR network The position includes secondments of 6 months at University College London (UCL) and 4 months at Altice Labs (Portugal), providing direct exposure to both academic and industrial research environments. In addition to research duties, the candidate will complete all doctoral degree requirements at Tampere University, contribute to ANCHOR project deliverables, participate in network-wide training events, and actively disseminate results through scientific and professional channels.
