FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES ACADEMY OF WELLNESS AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Sports Science (25260689) The Academy invites applications from candidates with experience in Sports and Health Sciences for the positions listed above. The appointee is expected to apply for external funding to conduct cutting-edge research, contribute to undergraduate and graduate program delivery, supervise student projects, dissertations, and placements at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to the work of the Academy and Faculty as deemed appropriate.  The University is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities, including the Multi-Omics, Genetics, and Biomolecular Laboratories; the Biomechanics and Performance Laboratory; and the Environmental and Hypoxic Chamber. Applicants should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: sports physiology, sports performance and genetics, sports technology, sports and AI, and sports medicine.  Requirements: Applicants should possess a relevant doctoral degree, and a strong track record of research, and publication in high impact international refereed journals. Having solid experience in course teaching, research student supervision, programme administration/development, and academic administration is also an asset. Applicants applying for Associate Professor and above should be able to demonstrate extensive experience and success in competitive grant applications and outstanding research publication records. The Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor role is a tenure-track position with initial appointment on a fixed-term contract of three years commencing January or August/September 2027. Tenured appointment is expected to be attained within six years. An outstanding appointee may also be considered for tenured appointment. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding. This role is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team in a dynamic organisation. You will work closely with the Associate Director, Government and External Relations and senior leaders to support coordinated engagement activities that enhance the University’s reputation, influence and impact. You will also provide high‑quality advice, briefings and correspondence to further the University’s influence and impact. Key responsibilities include: Establishing and maintaining strong and effective relationships internally and externally, including with government departments, political offices and industry partners. Drafting high-quality briefings, correspondence, submissions and advice for senior audiences. About You You have strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills and can effectively establish and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external. You will also be able to demonstrate: Excellent working knowledge of political, parliamentary and legislative processes at federal, state and local levels of government. Experience preparing high quality briefing papers, reports, policy papers, recommendations and advice for senior audiences. Strong communications, analysis and research skills. Trusted relationships and networks across government, industry and external stakeholders, which can be drawn upon to support the University’s priorities. It is expected that the successful candidate will have a degree in a relevant discipline (Public Policy, Communications or similar) and at least 5 years relevant senior experience. The role The post holder will lead the provision of a professional laboratory service, and a safe working environment within the school laboratories.  To do this, the post holder will:  be part of the School senior leadership team line manage the School technical support team, ensuring facilities are kept well maintained & well organised act as School Safety Advisor, ensuring School compliance with University policy and regulations pertaining to hazardous activities i.e. those involving hazards such as radiation, lasers, electricity, chemicals or cryogenics for example advise the Head of School on technical matters relating to projects, facility maintenance, equipment provision, and business continuity. The post holder will oversee other members of the school technical support team and will contribute to their appraisal process. They will have responsibility in advising regarding planning technical resource management and producing continuity plans with respect to testing facilities for the school. The post holder will act as the School Safety Advisor, ensuring school compliance with the University Health & Safety policy and regulations.
