The Times Higher Education Latin America University Rankings 2024 ranks 214 institutions from 16 countries, using the same trusted performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, but with weightings recalibrated to reflect the characteristics of the region.
Brazil’s University of São Paulo has knocked Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile off the top spot, ending the Chilean institution’s five-year run at number one. The top three spots are all claimed by Brazilian universities.
Mexico’s Tecnológico de Monterrey has dropped from fourth to joint seventh but still scores highly for research environment and research quality.
Argentina’s National University of La Plata is the highest new entrant for 2024 at 28th place.
Brazil’s University of Campinas is the best in the region for teaching and Ecuador’s UEES, Espiritu Santo University is highest ranked for international outlook.
