World University Rankings 2023 by subject: law

The law subject table uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the discipline.

This year’s table includes 290 universities, up from 257 last year.

Stanford University leads the ranking for the fifth consecutive year. New York University is now in second place, having swapped with the University of Cambridge, which now occupies third place. Harvard University has risen one position to sixth place.

There is only one more new entry to the top 10 – the University of Chicago, in 10th place, up three spots from 13th.

Australia leads the list of newcomers to the top 20, with the Australian National University rising 10 spots to 18th, and UNSW Sydney four spots to 20th.
