Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 537685), to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or a two-to three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

We seek academic leaders and emerging scholars whose work advances the understanding and treatment of psychiatric disorders and improves mental and physical health outcomes. We welcome applicants from psychiatry and related fields, including psychiatric epidemiology, digital mental health, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and big data analytics. The shortlisted applicant(s) will be nominated for the Presidential Research Assistant Professor (RAP) Scheme of the University.

Applicants should possess: (i) a Ph.D degree in psychiatry, psychology, public health, population health, data science, epidemiology, or a related discipline; and (ii) proven track record of impactful research, publications, external grants and leadership. Applicants are preferably within three years of their Ph.D graduation from top universities in the world and deemed to have almost reached the level of Assistant Professor.

The appointee will join the team of Prof. Chang Wing Chung. He/She is expected to conduct independent and collaborative research of high academic merit, and secure competitive external research funding (e.g., General Research Fund, Health and Medical Research Fund) to maintain an active research programme. He/She will contribute to supervising research postgraduate students. He/She will also undertake administrative and service duties as assigned. The Department offers a vibrant, collaborative environment with strong links to clinical services, community partners, and international research networks.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. In addition, the awardee of the Presidential RAP Scheme will be entitled to an annual research grant and annual conference support to be administered by the Faculty/Department.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and influential medical educator and clinician to join Flinders University as an Associate Professor and Director, Regional Training Hub (RTH) SA. This leadership role is responsible for driving excellence in rural medical education, clinical teaching and workforce development across South Australia. Working collaboratively with academic staff, health services, government and industry stakeholders, you will contribute to the clinical years in the MD program, strengthen rural training pathways, support the next generation of medical professionals, and contribute to improved health workforce outcomes in regional and remote communities.

The Forest Ecology and Global Change lab at Maynooth Biology Department is seeking a Post Doctoral Researcher to work on the “Ancient Woodlands Ireland” research project (funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine, and the National Parks and Wildlife Service).

The Ancient Woodlands Ireland project combines existing methodologies with novel approaches to deliver an all-island Ancient Woodlands Inventory for Ireland. The multidisciplinary project is drawing on expertise in GIS and remote sensing, paleoecology, contemporary ecology, and history to assess temporal changes in woodland cover in Ireland over the last 400 years. Ultimately, the project will provide valuable data that can be used to enhance the protection of Ireland’s ancient woodlands and help prioritize sites for woodland restoration.

The successful candidate will work primarily with Dr John Devaney and Prof Fiona Walsh on Task 5 of the project – the assessment of ancient woodland plant and soil indicators. The appointee will conduct vegetation surveys at selected ancient and recent woodland sites across Ireland. This new data will be supplemented with information in existing national forest vegetation datasets to generate ancient woodland indicator plant species lists for Ireland. A second goal of the research post is to evaluate the potential use of soil microbiome data as an indicator of woodland ancientness. DNA will be extracted from soil samples collected from ancient and recent woodland sites across Ireland, and soil microbiomes will be compared using phylogenetic cluster analysis.

The Position

The primary role of the Research Assistant will be to contribute to the research and administrative aspects of the Health and Identity Lab (led by Professor Tegan Cruwys), with a particular focus on the NHMRC research project: Effective community solutions to prevent and treat loneliness. The Person

The Research Assistant works under the broad direction of Professor Tegan Cruwys and works closely with professional and academic staff within the School of Medicine and Psychology and the College of Science and Medicine. Specific duties required of a Research Assistant may include:


	Provide support to the research team, including but not limited to:
	Assisting in the design and conduct of qualitative and quantitative research studies and in the analysis of data. This may involve, at times, fieldwork and related activities.
	Assisting in the preparation of research profiles, papers and literature reviews, including any archival work.
	Performing library, internet and literature searches and preparing bibliographies.
	Creating, testing, maintaining and managing relevant databases.
	Assisting in the ethics and governance approval for the research team as required.



	Undertake testing and statistical analysis as required and prepare and disseminate relevant analysis reports to internal and external stakeholders, including external funding agencies.
	Support the timely and on budget delivery of the project and monitor various sources to identify relevant funding opportunities.
	Provide general support on a range of research related matters, including coordinating team meetings, coordinating the communications to various stakeholders and organising relevant travel and events.
	Participate in workshops and professional networks across campus to develop a broad base of industry knowledge, and provide input to improve the area’s research practices and processes.  
	Perform other duties as requested, consistent with the classification level of the position and in line with the principle of multi-skilling.
