Founded in 1956, the Middle East Technical University (METU), based in Turkey, specialises in the natural and social sciences. Its motto is: ‘Science is the truest guide in life.’
Architecture was the first academic programme to be taught at the university, which now offers 43 undergraduate, 107 post-graduate and 69 doctorate programmes to around 30,000 students.
METU is organised across five faculties – Architecture, Engineering, Administrative Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Education – and separate graduate schools of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Informatics, Applied Mathematics, and Marine Sciences.
Originally based within two small buildings, METU gradually grew in size. In 1963 it relocated to its current site in Ankara, becoming the first university campus in the country.
Today, METU is an internationally-focused institution, boasting more income from international research projects than any other Turkish university, with partnerships in place with such leading global organisations as NASA, NATO, the United Nations, the World Bank and Erasmus.
All METU's degree programmes are taught in English and the university is home to over 1,700 international students from almost 100 different countries.
In 2003 it opened an international campus in Northern Cyprus – the first overseas campus of a Turkish university.
Its main campus in Ankara is situated within 11,000 acres of land designed to resemble a forest, complete with a lake – Lake Eymir – which a focal point for students’ recreational activities. While its Erdemli campus, situated on the Mediterranean coast, is the site of META’s Graduate School of Marine Sciences.
Other METU facilities include Turkey’s first science and research development park. Known as METU Technopolis and located on its main campus, the park aims to act as a hub for high-tech start-ups.

The more details can be kindly found as below: 1. Industrial AI Algorithm and Autonomous Decision-Making Systems RESPONSIBILITIES Research and develop autonomous decision-making algorithms for process industries (e.g., chemical, pharmaceutical, materials, energy) or discrete manufacturing (e.g., electronics assembly, automotive, home appliances). Explore the integration of large language models and reinforcement learning for real-time optimization, fault self-recovery, and production scheduling in industrial processes. Publish research results in top-tier international conferences and journals, and participate in applying for domestic and international patents. Assist in supervising PhD and Master's students, and participate in the center's collaborative projects with industry partners to promote the industrialization of technology. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES A Ph.D. (obtained or soon to be obtained) in Computer Science, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Operations Research, or a related field. Solid research background and practical experience in one or more of the following areas: Reinforcement Learning / Deep Reinforcement Learning Fine-tuning and Application of Large Language Models Time-Series Data Prediction and Modeling Intelligent Decision-Making and Optimization Algorithms Strong programming skills (proficient in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, etc.). Strong intellectual curiosity, ability to solve problems independently, and excellent teamwork spirit. Outstanding written and oral communication skills in both Chinese and English. 2. Industrial Digital Twin and Intelligent Control Systems RESPONSIBILITIES Develop industrial process digital twin models based on the fusion of mechanistic and data-driven approaches. Develop predictive maintenance and fault diagnosis algorithms for critical equipment (e.g., compressors, reaction kettles). Research advanced process control strategies and deploy them on the center's distributed control systems and edge computing devices. Work closely with industry partners to validate and optimize the developed technologies in real industrial environments. Publish high-quality academic papers and participate in writing research grant proposals. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES A Ph.D. (obtained or soon to be obtained) in Control Science and Engineering, Process Control, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. In-depth research experience and solid expertise in one or more of the following areas: Advanced Process Control and Optimization Digital Twin and Modeling & Simulation Predictive Maintenance and Fault Diagnosis Industrial IoT and Edge Computing Good programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++) and experience with system simulation. Experience with industrial field projects or familiarity with DCS/MES systems is preferred. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. The SIPROME project investigates how professions and the socio-environmental and geographical situatedness of work environments in the ancient Roman Empire contributed to the spatial spread of ancient cults. Using computational methods, the project examines how the occupational risks faced by inhabitants of the Roman Empire influenced their choice of preferred cults. The main methods used in the project include spatial analysis, predictive modelling, statistics, and the analysis of geocoded data, especially of epigraphic and archaeological origin. MAIN JOB CONTENT Framework Conducting research in cooperation with the project team. Publishing research results in academic journals and disseminating ongoing research findings at conferences and other public events. Independent work as well as collaboration with other members of the project team. Content of the research activity: Mathematical modeling and statistical data analysis. Evaluating data as potential predictors explaining the spatial distribution of archaeological or epigraphic finds (e.g., analysis of variance, correlation, regression, maximum entropy models). The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Helsinki is seeking a Research Infrastructure Manager for diverse tasks related to the coordination and development of technical support for research infrastructure. We offer a responsible and interesting job in a diverse working environment on the Viikki green campus. The Research Infrastructure Manager's responsibilities include developing the faculty's infrastructure based on the faculty's strategy. They will be responsible for the efficient use and maintenance of equipment, sampling, and analyses related to the faculty's research infrastructure, as well as quality assurance and development of these functions. The manager will act as an expert in the procurement of various research equipment for the faculty and will oversee the procurement process for more expensive specialized equipment. The salary for the position is based on the university salary system for non-teaching and non-research staff, at level 10 of the job demand scale. Additionally, a personal performance-based salary component will be paid. The gross salary ranges from €4,408 to €4,940. The position will be filled with a six-month probation period.
