The University of Sharjah (UOS) has an enviable corpus of research facilities for advanced research, giving unlimited support to researchers and setting up the environment for innovation, collaboration, and sustainable development.
During its research journey from 2014 till now, the University of Sharjah (UOS), through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, established three research institutes, 12 research centers of excellence, 84 research groups to promote all types of specialized and interdisciplinary research across all college departments. The UOS’s researchers now have access to world-class research facilities, outstanding resources, high-tech labs, specialist workshops, and up-to-date research software. These facilities are available to researchers among faculty members, students, staff, and external collaborates.
Research Institutes: There are currently three research institutes: the Research Institute of Medical and Health Science, the Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering, and the Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Research Centers of Excellence: There are currently 12 research centers working under the three institutes, including: the Center of Excellence For Precision Medicine, the Center of Excellence For Public Health, the Research Center for Advanced Materials Research, the Center for Sustainable Energy and Power Systems Research, the Research Center for Data Analytics and Cybersecurity, the Research Center for Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, the Sustainable Systems, Technologies, and Infrastructure Research Center, the Smart Automation and Communication Center, the Research Center for Family and Child Studies, and the Research Center for Applied Sociology. There are more research centers under establishment. Researchers in all these centers are working diligently to promote research excellence.
High-Tech Labs and Core Facilities: there are more than 45 state-of-the-art labs and facilities at the UOS enabling researchers to conduct their activities using the latest technologies and the most advanced equipment needed for advanced research in the fields of engineering, medicine, science, space, and the humanities. Examples of these labs include Civil and Environmental Engineering Labs, Electrical and Electronics Engineering lab, Advanced Materials Research Lab, Electrical and Electronics Workshop, Biotechnology Lab, Seismology laboratory, drug design and discovery research labs, Molecular Imaging Platform, Organic synthesis laboratory, animal facility, 500 MHz NMR facility, Liquid-Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometer, etc.
