About our School/Department The PGCHE programme is housed within EDEN where tri-campus schools in China, the UK, and Malaysia are brought together, providing the opportunities, expertise and collective skills for our academics to work collaboratively on a range of programmes and projects involving Applied Linguistics, International Higher Education, Translation and Interpreting, Cognitive Neuroscience, Literature and Drama, as well as other fields. Our top-tier, innovative, rigorous, and cross-disciplinary research contributes new knowledge and ideas that lead to real change in the modern world.  About the Role The Academic Director of the PGCHE programme is responsible for the management of modules needed by new Academics across Faculties for qualification/accreditation to teach in the UK higher education system. The programme and material for the teaching and assessment are delivered by the Academic Director. PGCHE is accredited by Advance HE, and those who complete the course will be awarded Associate Fellow or Fellow status of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Additionally, the Academic Director will be responsible for developing bespoke teacher training workshops and programmes for local educators initially and then expand the programme nationally and internationally, establishing UNNC as a leader in global teacher training and professional development. The new Academic Director will also seek grants and lead research projects in the area of local and global teacher training and professional development, contribute to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science (FHSS) Area Studies research initiatives, and collaborate on research and knowledge exchange with UNNC’s UNESCO Office, housed in EDEN, and the University of Nottingham, UK’s, UNESCO Chair, housed in the School of Education. About You Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree in education, language education, teacher education, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field; obtained Higher Education Academy (HEA) Senior Fellow status (or higher); possess recent experience developing and delivering teacher training and professional development workshops and programmes; demonstrate excellence in higher education administration; and possess a strong record of global research and grant capture in the area of education with a special emphasis on teacher training and professional development. The advertised position will be filled at an appropriate point on the Associate Professor level salary scale based upon prior experience and current academic rank. As a Praedoc university assistant, you will have the opportunity to develop your own dissertation project in the field of South Asian Studies while actively participating in research, teaching, and academic self-governance. The advertised position is based at the Department for South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies and is embedded in a dynamic, internationally networked research environment which deals with religious, cultural, and social processes in South Asia. In addition to working on your own dissertation, you will be expected to participate in ongoing research projects and provide support in research and teaching. Your personal scope As a Praedoc university assistant, you will develop an independent dissertation project in the field of modern South Asian studies with a focus on contemporary religious practices, social dynamics, and issues of gender, ritual, and materiality.
