In 1921, the University of Dhaka opened its doors to students with Sir P. J. Hartog as the first vice-chancellor of the university. At present, the university consists of 13 faculties, 71 departments, 10 institutes, 17 dormitories, three hostels and more than 38 research centres. As the pioneer and the largest seat of learning in the country, the University of Dhaka fosters the transformation processes of students and the country as a whole through its educational and research facilities. A new phase began in the history of the university with the emergence of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in 1971. This has been a phase of development, expansion and consolidation of earlier gains. The university has assumed a central role in the academic pursuits of the region. The university played a central role in the Language Movement of 1952 that ultimately culminated in the recognition of Bangla as the state language. Scores of students, teachers and employees of the University of Dhaka laid down their lives for the independence of the country. Just after the creation of Bangladesh, the government proclaimed the University of Dhaka Order 1973 whereby democratic norms and autonomy became integral features of the institution. The University of Dhaka is now the largest public university in Bangladesh. The University Library, spread across three different buildings, is the biggest in Bangladesh, comprising 617,000 volumes. There is also a medical centre with 24/7 service and a dental unit, eye unit, X-Ray department and two ambulances. Notable alumni include Muhammad Younous, Bangladesh’s only Nobel Prize winner, as well as many Bangladeshi presidents, prime ministers, artists, journalists and businessmen.

The Department of Geography at Durham University seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Human Geography who has expertise in the field of Health Geography that will complement and extend our current work in our Geographies of Life research cluster. We encourage applications in health geographies broadly defined. This could include but is not limited to: political economies and political ecologies of health; health and environment; more-than-human health geographies; feminist, queer and decolonial approaches to health; health and geohumanities; care economies; mental well being; disability; neurodiversity; and health inequalities and social justice. The successful candidate will develop world class scholarship in their field, and we encourage work that develops a range of theoretical, conceptual, and/or methodological approaches. They will have completed a PhD in a relevant field, have a track record of internationally excellent and agenda setting publications and demonstrate a track record of, or potential for, securing external funding. They will have experience of, or show a commitment to, delivering excellent teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and Master's-level teaching. In addition to their research, the successful candidate will contribute to the department through administrative roles commensurate with their grade. In November 2024, the University of Hong Kong LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) was appointed as the operator of GBAICTI. In December 2025, the Real-World Study and Application Centre (RWSAC) was established under GBAICTI to open up local health and medical databases and promote collaboration between Hong Kong and other GBA cities. We are now seeking a high-calibre professional to join the RWSAC (located at Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone) as Chief Data Scientist. We now invite applications for the captioned post. Duties and Responsibilities Report to Director (RWSAC) and lead the scientific and methodological core of the RWSAC. Provide scientific leadership in the design, execution, and analysis of real-world evidence (RWE) studies. Oversee the development and validation of the common data model and the data integration platform for use in healthcare research. Ensure analytical methodologies are robust, reproducible, and compliant with relevant regulatory guidelines. Lead the exploration and application of innovative analytical approaches. Manage a team of data scientists and business intelligence (BI) professionals, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous methodological improvement. Collaborate with the Data Scientist (AI) to integrate advanced AI/ML techniques into the RWE generation pipeline.  Requirements PhD degree in Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Informatics or related disciplines. Preferably minimum 5 years’ experience in epidemiology, data management, programming and statistics at supervisory level. Proficiency in SQL, Python/R, or similar tools; experience with big data platforms , machine learning, and data warehousing. Commitment to quality, integrity, confidentiality and compliance. Excellent leadership, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholders’ management skills. Detail-oriented, able to handle multiple concurrent tasks and self-motivated. A good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including both Cantonese and Putonghua). The University of Zurich invites applications for a Professorship in Education in the Migration Society (Open Rank) starting on 1 February 2028. Depending on the qualifications of the appointee, the professorship will take the form of a chair or a tenure-track assistant professorship. The professorship is based at the Institute of Education at the University of Zurich. Apart from conducting research in the field and contributing to the academic self-governance of the university, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and coordinating modules in the educational sciences programs. A research focus on non-formal education is an integral part of the position, with an emphasis on a social-pedagogical perspective. About the Team/Service/Location This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career Software Engineer to show strong leadership and progress your research goals.
