Founded in 1965 as the International College of Commerce, TIU is a private institution focused on business and commerce based on two campuses in the Kawagoe City district of the Saitama Prefecture, Greater Tokyo, which its website calls "a quietly healthy atmosphere to study in". It lives up to its name by having roughly one in six students from abroad, high by Japanese standards. Raised to university status as TIU in 1986, its motto is "nurturing truly international-minded people". A new Central Tokyo campus at Ikebukuro, a 35-minute rail or metro journey from Kawagoe, begins construction in 2020 and should be fully operational by 2023. Classes are offered in Japanese and English, a range recognised on the Kawagoe campus by the creation of distinct E- and J-Plazas as dedicated learning centres for studies in the two languages. Among the activities to be transferred to Ikebukuro will be the English-Track programme which since 2014 has offered four-year undergraduate degrees, also including mandatory Japanese language classes, in international relations and business economics. A master's in digital marketing and business was introduced in 2018 while new courses offered in 2019 include information technology and entrepreneurial business. There are plans for a Global Sports Programme. Since its foundation TIU has enjoyed a close relationship with Willamette University, Oregon and since 1989 has run TIUA, offering a one-year American studies programme from a facility next door to the Willamette campus. The 30th class graduated in 2018, its 117 members completing 4,700 hours – more than 40 hours apiece – of volunteer activity between them during the year.

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST for a fixed-term appointment from 11 May, 2026 to 31 March, 2027, or as agreed. We seek an information systems specialist to join the ReliaCode project at the University of Helsinki. Our aim is to make LLMs usable in organisational settings with high reliability requirements, especially for reasoning about complex document collections. We’re building methods to make it easier to tell when LLM outputs can’t be trusted, and to improve systems efficiently from limited human feedback. The work is part of an early-stage initiative based in a university environment, with secured funding and a strong focus on real-world impact through pilot collaborations with organizations. The goal is to iteratively develop a product that could evolve either into a general-purpose platform for unstructured data processing or a focused solution in a specific domain. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of research and product, and to help shape the technical direction of a potential startup from the ground up. We are offering a year-long full-time contract with the possibility of continuing afterwards in a potential spin-out company. We are particularly looking for candidates with: Strong Python and software engineering skills Hands-on experience using LLMs in applications, especially with multiple model calls and high reliability requirements Experience evaluating LLM systems, including designing benchmarks and using evaluation signals to identify failures and improve system performance Familiarity with practical ML approaches for ranking or classification with noisy or limited signals Comfort working independently in an early-stage project and taking ownership of open-ended problems The following are seen as advanteges but not necessary: Experience working with unstructured data sources (e.g. documents, long-form text) Familiarity with machine learning or NLP, particularly in areas such as information extraction or human-in-the-loop systems Some experience building and maintaining applications used by others  Familiarity with standard software engineering practices (e.g. version control, code review, testing, iterative development) What we offer The University of Helsinki is an equal opportunity employer and offers an attractive and diverse workplace with a variety of development opportunities and benefits. Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country View Position Description About the Role The Manger Counselling Service is responsible for providing leadership and management of the Flinders University’s Counselling Service - including the Intake and Assessment team and Counselling teams including those based in regional and remote areas. The Counselling Service provides a range of services to enhance student wellbeing including intake and assessment, crisis and critical incident support, complex case management, short-term solution-focussed counselling, gender-based violence support, group programs, wellbeing initiatives including training and consultation to staff across the university. In collaboration with the Director Student Life, you will play a key role in ensuring that efficient and effective service delivery models are in place to support student wellbeing, meet service demands, and ensure compliance with relevant legislative, regulatory and policy obligations. This will be achieved by: Providing leadership, supervision and performance management to a team of counsellors delivering high quality programs of work and student health and wellbeing services. This includes ensuring quality and consistency of service delivery, planning adequate resourcing to meet demand, providing professional supervision and fostering and modelling a high-performance culture. Implementing a continuous improvement framework to ensure the delivery of quality and timely counselling services and other wellbeing initiatives, programs and projects that reflect best practice and the current higher education sector priorities. Ensuring that students in crisis and/or at risk are managed appropriately, including taking a key role in the management of critical incidents. Contributing to initiatives that aim to address and promote matters related to student mental health and wellbeing, including gender-based violence.
